“Friendly, comfy and warm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

A friendly and unpretentious guest house, conveniently located 15 minutes walk from Leverburgh ferry port and pier. Rooms are warm, comfy and well-furnished, and breakfasts excellent, from a wide menu. There is plenty of parking available.

I would recommend it and stay again next time I am in the area

As regards the Leverburgh area, two words of caution for new visitors:
- the only food shop closes at 6pm - and the only cashpoint is available when the post office is open
- the Anchorage restaurant is the only one within a short walk (the Rodel hotel is three miles away) and you should book ahead if you want to be sure of getting a table

Grimisdale House is located close to Leverburgh, right on the side of a loch. Beautiful views are thus there to be admired from outside the house and also from within. This property is ideally situated for the harbour area, ferries, and for boat trips to St Kilda or other locations. Grimisdale can, thus, be recommended as a convenient, and an excellent, although perhaps expensive, place to book for bed and breakfast. The owner (Farquhar) is friendly, easy going and accommodating. Although the website shows views of three rooms, other accommodation is also available. We booked the spacious Harris room plus a room upstairs which was less roomy. It also had sloping walls/ceiling. A variable pricing structure for rooms might have been expected given that there is some variation in facilities and room architecture and room sizes. Breakfast is provided in a very airy and bright dining area adjacent to a lounge overlooking the loch. All rooms are very clean and well appointed and the usual tea/coffee making facilities are available in the rooms. Additionally, Harris has a safe and an iron and an ironing board.

Room Tip: Ask for details of the room in advance as they vary in size as described above.

I had a spotlessly clean and comfortable room, sadly not overlooking the loch which the B&B sits by. The owners were friendly and helpful and steered me in the direction of an excellent local restaurant. The B&B overlooks a loch with few other buildings in sight. I could have stayed for a month.

Stayed for just one night and was not long enough. Wonderful location very friendly owners. We sat overlooking the loch on the evening with a glass of wine and thought it could not get any better. The room was cosy and very comfy bed. Breakfast was great. Would highly recommend .

Room Tip: Overlooking the loch

I recently stayed here with my son for a few days and can highly recommend it. Excellent location, friendly host, comfortable beds, very good bathroom and big breakfast choice. Even the weather in late May and early June far exceeded our expectations: it was sunny and there wasn't much wind either.
