“An American in Ullapool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

I was a female vacationer alone in Ullapool for the first time for a period of 2 weeks at the Riverside. I had a single room that was consistently clean, quiet, with modern facilities. The breakfasts were more than plentiful, staff always accommodating, and the prop. Charlie always available to make positive suggestions to enhance my stay. The Riverside felt safe and homey and I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: My room was quiet, being on the 2nd floor facing the main road.

This is an OK B&B, more like a small hotel - personally I prefered the smaller BB's we had stayed in during our cyling trip round scotland - saying that it was clean and offered everything you need for one nights stay - if a little tired. Perhaps it didnt help that the person in the next room was possibly the loudest snorer i've ever come across and it felt like we were sharing a room with him. Breakfast was Ok and the location is good.

A friendly clean guest house within walking distance of the seafront. Room very spacious and clean, with all you require. Beds could be large and more comfortable (but that is being picky). Owner very friendly and helpful. it has a large comfortable lounge area. Parking limited to six cars but during weekend parking is available across the other side of the road

This guest house is ideal, in a great location, quiet but close enough to walk into town. Charlie & his team are very friendly & make it a pleasure. Ullapool & the surrounding area is well worth a visit & Riverside Guesthouse will make a great base.

The Riverside, given the number of rooms, is more like a small hotel than a B & B. At the time of reservation, the booking process was very prompt and easy. The Riverside is well located, being near to the main high street, pubs and restaurants, and also within easy reach of a supermarket. Our room was a good size, although the decor possibly needs a little updating. It was very clean. We also got some good ideas for drives around the area, and the breakfasts were plentiful. In comparison to other B & Bs on the west coast of Scotland, it was a good price.

However as on both mornings there was insufficient hot water for a shower, and on our first morning my shower was cold. We raised a query about whether there was a problem, and we were told to wait 10 minutes as there were a number of rooms. Whilst that did help a little, a hot shower is a basic requirement for me, and so the Riverside gets a lower rating. I may have just been unlucky on those particular days.

my friend and I travelled to ullapool for a wedding and were very fortunate to have found the riverside. run by charlie and his wife linda,it was centrally located, clean and well kept, they served a lovely hot breakfast each morning and were a great wealth of information re: ullapool and how to get around. They were most accomodating with all our requests. Would definitly reccomend this establishment and would certainly return myself. Sharon Bj.

Room Tip: We had the 2 singles...although small they were comfortable and had their own ensuite
