Having stayed in several hotels, this must be one of the worst I've ever encountered, and I'm not a snob. Think inferior bunkhouse service at 5 star prices. Example: guests are expected to use bars of soap already used by other customers, and are regarded as aliens if they object to this. Apparently it's environmentally sound, and the 'policy' involves washing and drying the soap between customers. At £68 per person B & B I'm interested in ways of saving the environment that don't involve secondary contact with strangers' genitals - or is that just me? Rooms were tatty, cleaning standards bad e.g. brown toilet bowl. A residents lounge where you could make tea and coffee 'for free' offered notes instructing you on how to clean up after yourself bringing back unfond memories of 1970s guest houses. We compained several times, only to be accused of being the problem. On the plus side, the Eastern European restaurant staff were friendly and polite, if poorly trained and therefore terminally confused. As a Scot this makes me cross - this sort of hotel gets us a bad name and puts off tourism from other countries. Doesn't deserve to have customers!
