“Beautiful home, stunning views and wonderful hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

We have been staying at the Tamarin lodge every year for 6 nights in May/June for the last 5 years and we are always looking forward to going back. We are a family with young children and we have been with our parents too. The rooms are very spacious, very clean, with very nice furniture. There is a dressing room where we put the travel cot provided by the hosts and the bathroom is divine (bath + shower and heated floor). Two of our kids sleep in the single bedrooms at a discounted child price and benefit from their own bathroom. The views are exceptionals and well worth staying up the hill a little further away from the town centre. From the house you can go on to Ullapool hill path in just 5 minutes and have a nice walk with great views.
The hosts are very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is always prepared with fresh ingredients. The eggs come from their own hens and I haven't tasted better poached eggs in my life. The fruit platter is made to order with the freshest fruits you can get. The whole breakfast is to very high standards.
Overall, there isn't a place that is better than Ullapool Tamarin Lodge. Even when I was staying in 4 or 5* hotels all over Europe, the experience was not as nice as this lovely B&B in Ullapool.
I would definitely recommend it and will return every year as long as I can.

We stayed for one night, but would love to have stayed for more. The views were amazing and the breakfast was superb. The rooms are clean and the bed was probably the best I have slept in for a year! Big thanks to Richard and Val for being such welcoming and warm hosts.

We just stayed for one night at Tamarin Lodge, and can only say we wish it could have been longer! The house is a beautiful modern property, fantastically finished, with the most spectacular views over Loch Broom. We had a double room, while our friends had a twin. Both rooms had a dressing room and fantastic bath/shower room - the twin having a wet room - and the underfloor heating throughout made walking around in just socks a very pleasurable experience!

The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, with very comfortable memory foam mattresses. Plentiful hospitality tray and tv with Sky made everything just perfect, and the house was also lovely and peaceful.

Val and Richard were perfect, friendly hosts, and the breakfast was delicious, served in the lovely breakfast room with that same stunning view over the loch.

All in all, it really couldn't have been better, and we hope to pay another visit - for longer - next time we're in the area! Thank you Val and Richard!

Cannot praise this place enough, sitting on a hill with a breathtaking view, a superb double room/suite and very nice people who own the place. Great value for money and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Don't go past this B&B if you are in the area. It is a short drive out of town high on the side of a hill with amazing views of the Loch and countryside. We had a huge corner room with our own dressing room and en suite. Richard and Val together with Jeeves, their lovely dog, are excellent hosts. Breakfast is cooked to order each morning and nothing is too much trouble for this great couple. The room was excellent - we thoroughly enjoyed our two nights there. DON'T miss it.

Room Tip: downstairs corner room has wonderful views

Warn cosy and beautifully equipped B&B, we even had our own dressing room. Cycle parking available, beautiful views over the loch as quite high up. Only one draw back is that it is more than a mile out of town, leave on the main road going south, then take a left at the B&B sign, then a long way down a lane. Local taxi firm took us into town for our meal.

Room Tip: just book this B&B for the best rooms
