We got checked in early to our room on the 5th floor on the 100 side which is considered the road side. Never had a problem with the noise. The 200 side is considered the Maho side & no traffic. Sherelle checked us in & very accommodating. Tony, the concierge was very knowledgable & we loved what he suggested.....The cuty tour, the pirate tour & the sunset cruise on Passatt. Princess was wonderful & not pushy at all in giving us info on the time share. We bought one as the price was to good to pass up. We never needed to rent a car. Can't wait to go back next year!!

We traded our timeshare to go to St Maarten this year.We loved the Royal Islander. It was clean and everyone was so friendly. For a one bedroom the place was big. We have had much smaller 2 bedroom condos. David did morning walks .Told us things we would never know. Was worried about the plane noise. But after awhile you don't even notice it.It was neat to be in your beach chair or the pool and watch them take off or land.Tony who was doing the trip planning suggested we go on the piratetour. We had a great time.

This was our first stay in St. Maarten and all we can say is wow. Loved the location - close to shops, food and entertainment. The condo was clean; the water pressure was outstanding and the air conditioning was cold. The staff was very friendly. We loved Mary at the Tortuga Bar. She was great. Did not mind the closeness of the airport. Actually "rode the fence" when a plane was taking off. Really had a great time.

The rooms were clean but antiquated. The staff was helpful until the last day when I realized that one of my outfits had "disappeared". I suggested that perhaps housekeeping mistakenly took it with the sheets/towels. The female manager didnt appear to care at all as she repeatedly said "We've never had anything like this happen before". The assistant manager(John) was much more caring but made no attempt to rectify the situation. It's a shame because the location is great for food, entertainment, nightlife, public transportation($2) and its literally 2 minutes from the airport. Because of the way they handled my situation, I won't stay there again.

we stayed in a 1 bedroom time share after trading from our MVCI and were suitably impressed by how clean everything was and Maho bay is perfect. The location is great as well because you can pick up a "bus" from in front and go anywhere you want on St Maartin for less than $2. You don't have to rent a car when staying there either and a grocery store is around the corner. Casinos, restaurants, and clubs are a walking distance...and the pool bar is a lot of fun!! Enjoy!!

We have been going to St. Martin for years. Royal Islander is our second home. And this time is no different. We were greeted with a welcome home from all the staff all who have been there for several years. Our room was ready and all the check in was prepared. This made the arrival so nice.

This time we stayed for 8 days which required a room change. They made that move so easy. The first room was along the Sonesta side 6201, awsome. We moved to 3112/3113 a two bedroom lock-off. Very nice but to close to the roundabout and the runway. The airplanes became a little loud on that part. At night the drivers were crazy and went most of the night. Won't stay at that end again.

The location of the resort is perfect for relaxation at the pool or beach, snorkeling, exercise night life, gambling what ever you desire. Maho has it all and only seconds from the airport.

The rooms were nice and clean the views were great and the service was perfect. The grounds were clean and well kept.

We rented a car from Hertz (on site) and Chris was great. Cars were clean and they had a late drop box at the Sonesta Hotel.

The only bad I have to say was the fitness center (at the Sonesta) was very run down. Some of the equipment was broke. I was shocked when I changed the BOTTLED water only to find they refilled it from the tap. That is the fault of the Sonesta.

We have already began our return trip.

Room Tip: All the rooms were great with a fantastic view. Just depends on what you want. The noise was loude...
