“Cannot recommend the Old Priory highly enough”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

Having stayed for the third time at this beautiful bed & breakfast we were yet again not disappointed. As soon as we arrived we were met by the proprietor Robin with his usual friendliness and good humour. Our room was spacious, clean with an immaculate bathroom and the best power shower we have ever used. The complimentary tray was well stocked with an assortment of tea's, coffee's, hot chocolate, bottled water and biscuits. Breakfast is held in a lovely sunny dining room, the sideboard groaning with cereals, fruits, yogurts and fruit drinks, full cooked breakfast offered is delicious. This is the best b&b we have ever stayed in and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

At the start of a tour of Scotland,we stopped off in Kelso to visit some friends and their children, and stayed at The Old Priory on recommendation. We were not to be disappointed.

We were met by the main proprietor to his home, Robin, with a welcoming smile and shown to our huge room. The large house has a lovely sweeping staircase up to our 2nd floor room.

The room was very large and kept in keeping with the rest of this beautiful traditional property.Although the room didn't have a bath(although not advertised as having one) we found the smallish bathroom and shower cubicle more than ample for our requirements.

The whole property was absolutely immaculate, with a lovely rear garden. It has its own car park, and extra spaces at the rear.A lovely conservatorary leads into the rear garden, and there is easy accesss from here into the car park and parking spaces outside.

We had breakfast which offered a great variety of food and drinks, with a huge number of different Teas as well. Times for breakfast spanned a large time frame, which was very useful. The food was of a good standard and generous amounts.

Robin has a very relaxed attitude and a lovely calming persona which made us feel very welcome,,which also added to the enjoyment of our stay.

Should add that The Old Priory is right in the centre of Kelso with easy access to the shops and eateries, yet we did not find the location too noisy at all.

Would I recomment it..yes absolutely, and we would definately stay here again.Thank you Robin and Sue.

Room Tip: Sure all rooms were as good as ours, it was just that sort of place.

Highly recommended in every respect. Clean and comfortable; lovely furnishings; very convenient location; breakfasts considerably above average; and Robin [the owner] is a friendly welcoming host who takes a genuine interest in all his guests. We shall certainly return next time we are in the Borders..

Lovely bed and breakfast in the middle of Kelso. Lovely period style roomswith guest access to conservatory, gardens and sitting room. Free private parking, free wi fi, yummy breakfast and very helpful hosts, who were able to offer advice on local eating establishments. We stayed there for the local dog show ( and no extra costs for dogs unlike the big hotel chains), and were unfortunate to have car trouble on the day of the show, however, Robin kindly offered to mind our car keys until the AA came whilst we went to the show (won a second place, so we are more than grateful). Breakfast was excellent, with loads of choice. Wll definately stay again if we are in the area and would definately recommend to others

We were recommended this B&B by a local resident. It was a little more than we would normally consider but proved that sometimes you do get what you pay for. We were greeted by Robin and welcomed to his home. Our period furnished room had a large (6'), comfortable, bed and a very good shower. There was a large sitting room next door , specifically for the use of guests. Breakfast was very good and afterwards we spent time chatting with Robin. We would thoroughly recommend this B&B.

An excellent establishment in all respects. Beautiful house and furnishings, comfortable beds an spotlessly clean. Mein host is most welcoming, a good raconteur, very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was first class and using local produce was of a quality that puts many a 5 star hotel to shame. We will return!!

Really lovely B&B in the heart of Kelso. We were made to feel very welcome and had a very pleasant stay. We stayed in a room on the ground floor which we couldn't fault, cleam and tidy with everything catered for, nice bathroom with a quirky toilet . . .liked it alot!! Be prepared for a little noise from the road if staying in a room on the groundfloor at the front of the property.
Great cooked breakfast.

Room Tip: Expect a little road noise if staying on the ground floor at the front of the property.
