“A lively spot with good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

Popped in again this past weekend and the place was rocking as it was The Border Show weekend at Kelso Races. Plenty of locals getting stuck in and a great atmosphere. i was very impressed that the staff could cope with all the orders but they did very well

excellent service, good value meal, plenty of choice. Even though full after main meal forced ourselves to have a pudding as everyone else's looked so good - and it was.

“good food, great atmosphere, friendly staff and good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2012

very pleased to find a pub which sold real ales and a good selection of wine, had a wide choice on the menu from traddional scotish fare, fresh Eyemouth fish and daily specials.Well worth a visit - a good place to meet up with friends or chat with the locals.

“A meal to remember?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2012

We decided to go to The Queen's Head restaurant after reading a few reviews on Trip Advisor.
The restaurant is situated behind the bar area and a lot smaller than I imagined it would be. There is certainly nothing fancy about it at all and I felt a little disappointed when I first arrived. There seemed to be only one table for two so we were sat next to the stairs which lead to the kitchen.
The menu itself seemed a bit limited but with good choices. We ordered our meal but felt we had to wait a bit long for it. When it arrived, some of the meal was over-cooked. Just as well I like crispy potato wedges, but I do not like Yorkshire Pudding which is so crispy that it falls to bits as soon as we cut into it. The meal tasted not too bad though and there was certainly plenty of it.
We found the dessert menu even more limited, but the choices were quite tasty and well presented.
The staff were very friendly and attentive. The prices were very reasonable.
The restaurant would be inaccessible to wheelchair users due to steps down to the dining area.
Also, due to the bar being adjoined and a football game being played on TV, we had trouble having a quiet chat with our meal, due to the patrons loud cheers when their favourite team scored a goal. The noise was sudden and gave us quite a start. But I'm sure it doesn't happen all the time.
I don't think I will be paying a return visit.
