A couple of hundred yards outside Lacock village, this pub has lots of competition, but was heaving on a Sunday lunchtime in May, which is a good sign! And that's not surprising; the food was superb - proper grub, large portions - there were six of us, and every one of us agreed the food was really excellent. The service was good, even though the place was packed, the staff friendly and helpful. The beer is good, with a good and varied selection, too. We also couldn't believe the extent and variety of the menu - it's a relatively small place, but the choice of dishes for all three courses was huge. And the price was very reasonable, too, for a tourist hot-spot - about £21 per person for three courses, excluding drinks. All in all, an excellent place, and one to which we shall definitely return.
