There was nothing particularly bad about the restaurant at the Myrtle Bank Hotel, it's just that for £80 for a family of 4 with 2 young children, I've would've expected the food to be better and the service was very slow.
The fish was quite good (fresh with crispy batter) but the venison was covered in a sickly sweet sauce, which completely took away the taste of the meat. The raspberry and apple crumble looked like a pile of fruit mush on a plate and had no real taste.
The staff were really pleasant and friendly but even though the restaurant was only around half full, service was very slow.
If I returned I think I would come for lunch instead of dinner.
On the plus side, they have a beautiful view over the bay in Gairloch, looking towards the Isle of Skye.
