“Brillant Shearings Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2011

Wonderful week staff extremely friendly and food very good- beautiful view over Gairloch Bay .Stuart our driver from the Isle of Wright was second to none - nothing was too much trouble went out of his way to make the week work for all the coach passengers. Must admit I have never laughed so much in one week the rapport of Stuart and all the coach passengers was brillant Certainly a holiday when looking back on will make you want to laugh all over again.

Very nice hotel, the staff were excellent very good food served quickly and efficiently. The entertainment was very good and all inclusive is certainly a good deal. The room was okay needs updating no shower just a bath which applied to quite a few of the rooms, must be difficult for some clients. Stuart our driver was absolutely brilliant certainly helped make the holiday very enjoyable

Have to admit - this was our third visit in 3 years! That tells the story!
On this all inclusive deal you can have dinner bed & breakfast & free drinks for most of the evening for only £50 per night (on a self drive basis)
I keep bringing family members here & it has done my reputation no harm at all!
The elitists of this world would find the rooms a wee bit dated - but really they are absolutely fine. The service from the staff is absolutely first class.
As for the food - have never found any cause for complaint. The evening menu changes every day and the choice is good if not extensive. The dishes are always well prepared and tasty.
Evening entertainment is a bit tired - I heard the same jokes from last year.

Overall this is great value & I would recommend.

The Gairloch Hotel was very good, food really tasty, entertainment very good and the room we had was nice and spacious.. The staff were all very helpful. But the best thing was the driver of the coach, Stuart, who came from the Isle of Wight. A really nice friendly young man who was very helpful and had our interests at heart. He is a real treasure. Nothing was too much trouble. Stuart and the wonderful Scottish countryside made this one of the best Shearings holidays that we have been on and that is saying something after 80 or more.

The Gaifrloch Hotel is on a sea loch with some beautiful views. My single room was roomy and comfortalble - unusually so for the single traveller. The staff, mainly foreign, were efficient without being offhand with plenty of smiles. The food was good wothout being spetacular.
Thre was entrtainmet most evenings but for those, like me, who prefer to have a quiet drink and read there were quiet rooms available.
All in all a comfortable and pleasant experience for the undemanding tourist . I would be happy to return

The Gairlock (Highland region - do not get confused with the Strathclyde one!) appears to be mainly a coaching hotel. Criticism of the hotel itelf can justly be described as "adequate". HOWEVER, don't let this put you off. The loch views are absolutely stunning, even when it's pouring with rain (quite frequently); upgrading for such a view is well worth while. Our room was ENORMOUS. It was a pity the TV screen was so small, binoculars would have been an advantage here. The menu was more than varied, but most meals appeared to emanate from packets or tins.
BUT all the shortcomings were overcome by the attitude of the staff. We have never been in an hotel before where the staff worked as such a team. The manager came aboard our coach to welcome us as soon as we arrived, and from that moment on, we were all treated as family.
The evening entertainment was almost up to Caleigh standard, (take that as a comliment)so if you're looking for a quiet, secluded hotel, we can certainly recommend this one. Just go to bed early, and avoid those noisy grockles (Isle of Wight slang)

We travelled with Shearings Coach Holidays on a seven day break to Gairloch. The Coach
Driver Stuart was really great he was very informative and friendly and nothing was to much for him a great Ambassador for Shearings.
The Hotel setting was excellent with wonderful views of the Isle of Skye and the beaches were wonderful.
We visited the Pier which was about 15 minutes walk from the Hotel and took a boat trip with Hebridean Whale Cruises on the Fishing Boat M.V.Kerry towards the Isle of Skye. This was a great trip with a good Skipper we did not see any Whales but did see Dolphins which gave us a lovely display very close to the boat. We also saw Seals and one grey Seal came very close to the boat head out of the water asking for a fish.We also saw lots of wild birds some quite rare.
We visited Inverewe Gardens which was absolutely wonderfull with lots of exotic plants and trees .The Gardens and plants were kept in great condition and this was one of the nicest gardens that we have visited well done The National Trust. There was not enough time to see everything as we could have stayed all day .
This was a lovely Holiday with fantastic views of the area and again with the organised schedule and the help of the Coach Driver Stuart we had a wonderfull time .
I would reccomend this Holiday as Shearings have worked hard to ensure that everything was in place for their Holiday Makers
We will return

Thanks
Tony and Glenys Corcoran
