“Ideal for a romantic break away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

We've just enjoyed a lovely 1 night stay at this gorgeous hotel on a groupon voucher. The staff were lovely. We had booked a superior room under the impression that it would have a bath in the room, unfortunately this was not so but when we approached the manager about this, he was extremely helpful and understanding. He was eventually able to offer us the superior suite with a roll top bath instead which was amazing news! We were so happy and after a gorgeous meal with excellent service it was the perfect stay. We felt so relaxed and well looked after. The decor and open fires are perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be looking out for another opportunity to stay here again. Many thanks again to the amazing staff!

Room Tip: We stayed in Honey and it was gorgeous. There are rooms on the road front so best to specify if you...

Myself and my partner stayed here for our Anniversary and what a fabulous stay it was.
Our room was in the adjouning building and everything from the furnishings, to the furniture to the bathroom was gorgeous and so comfortable.
We booked in for a 3 course meal in the evening and could find nothing to complain about at all, the staff were so friendly and attentive and the food was really yummy.
The hotel is in a lovely location and we wouldnt hesitate in returning for another stay in the future. Thank you!!

My husband and I recently had a two night break at the. White Hart. The room we were allocated was 'mint' at the side of the adjoining building. It was a nicely appointed room with lovely furnishings. The modern ensuite had a shower, no bath. On our first day the room had no heating until 6pm which we thought was much too late as it was a cold day. We reported it to the manageress who must said that as the boiler was on and other radiators were hot, ours was probably just 'working through'. It did eventually get hot, well after 6pm, but by this time, we had showered and changed in a rather cold room. There was an open fire in the bar/restaurant and a wood burner in the bar, both of which were not lit until late which meant, again, the public rooms were cold. On the second night they were lit and the atmosphere was so much more pleasant. Some of the male Bar staff were not particularly helpful or even friendly, but the restaurant waitress and waiter were a pleasure. Breakfast was good consisting of fruit, orange juice, cereal plus bacon, sausage, eggs, beans and mushrooms and toast. Dinner was varied and included a fish option which was good. On checkout we realised that there was confusion over our Groupon booking which was for two nights, bed, breakfast and dinner - and we had a receipt to say we had paid for this. We therefore asked to discuss with the manageress. We were left waiting for about 15 minutes, while staff were rushing around trying to find her, with no apology when she did eventually arrive. She said that we had to take the matter up with Groupon, which we have since done. However, we believe the manageress's attitude was not helpful - just dismissive. The White Hart could be so much better if staff were maybe given training on how to deal with, or even speak to, guests. Nettlebed is a very small village on a main road which can be noisy with heavy traffic from about 6am. Henley, Marlow, Abingdon and Wantage are not far away, and very pleasant to visit.

Room Tip: Try to choose room at the back of hotel to avoid traffic noise in early morning.

Had a lovely 2 night stay here. Close to Henley and Oxford in a very pretty location. We stayed in Cinnamon which was lovely except for the road noise. The bathroom was beautiful, huge bath. Very comfortable bed. The service from all the staff was excellent, efficient without being stuffy. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, all the food was of great quality and the restaurant was cosy with a huge log fire. Altogether a great place to stay, relax and explore the area.

Room Tip: If you can't tolerate road noise ask for a room in the annex at the back.

Stayed here on a business trip and was impressed with room standard, and the South African influenced menu. The restaurant was busy in the evening which I could understand as it offered great value for money and was presented with style.
Unfortunately I was in room 6 which faces the road and was woken by trucks traveling through about 5am also neither my colleagues or myself had mobile reception until we drove into nearby Henley - not a bad thing for a romantic stay but not great for a business stay.
The bathroom with his and hers basins was a nice touch and the large walk in rain shower looked impressive but was let down by the lack of water pressure.
Would I stay again? Probably not on business but possible would on a romantic getaway.

I got a Groupon deal for a night at this hotel for my boyfriend's birthday, and like some other reviewers, wish we'd come for two nights. The room was lovely, very quaint and vintage-style, but with a fantastic modern bathroom including a great shower. Our dinner was included in the deal and the gastropub-type food was very good, although not extraordinary. The staff were courteous and polite, and breakfast was great too. The location was nice (car recommended) and we took some time to explore nearby Henley the next day. We came away feeling refreshed and relaxed - just a shame we couldn't stay for longer.

Clean and attractive room across pleasant courtyard from main building.Friendly staff.
Whilst comfortable the beds were a bit rickety but nothing to concern us. The restaurant serves quite good food, typical pub grub but the service was slow. At breakfast the next day despite being open for an hour the pressured staff were still not really ready, and there was a long wait. Cooked breakfast was good but overall lacked alternatives apart from a cereal. No fruit etc. Unfortunate that tea and coffee only available from self serve area of tea bags and jugged hot water, no teapot, no boiling water. Check out at 9.45 repeated the constant gripe, no-one available as they were helping out with breakfast. Management should attend this, it is unfair on the staff.
