“Lovely warm'n'cosy pub serving beautifully presented and tasty food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

We visited Alnmouth in the summer of 2012 and visited the Sun Inn for drinks so with an overnight spooky stay at the Schooner up the road booked, we decided we wanted to go to the Sun Inn for our meal. I rang and booked a table and we visited the website to look at the menu (point to note...the menu on the website bears little resemblance to the menu offered).

The pub had a roaring log fire and our reserved table was right next to it.....every table had driftwood tealight holders and driftwood mirrors and frames adorned the walls.....they would make a fortune if they were selling them as I was desperate to buy a tealight holder! Apparently they are from a man in Amble. The pub had a lovely warm and cosy feel and if it wasn't for us having a spooky night, I think we would have all been happy to stay the whole night.

I ordered the Aberdeen Angus burger (given choice of how well it was cooked) and it arrived on a small chopping board with a small chip basket.....beautifully presented. Others in our party had scampi and chips and lamb shank served on a bed of mash. Our plates were cleared!

We opted for tricky toffee pudding for afters and again, this arrived beautifully presented and tasted absolutely devine!

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Sun Inn to anyone and will definitely return in the future.

“Driftwood heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

Warm, cosy, friendly pub. The driftwood artifacts are fascinating and interesting-but wouldn't fit in my handbag. LOL bar lad gave us some background info on the driftwood, who made what and where some of it could be bought. Good pub food and we discovered you can stay here-one for the future!

“Warm, friendly and excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

Wonderful! The Camembert sharer starter was wonderful (but very filling!). We both had Aberdeen Angus Burger which they cook to your taste. The menu is varied and excellent value for money. The pub itself is well decorated and very welcoming. We also really loved the tea-light holders on the tables.

“First class pub food”

Great choice for an informal bar supper by the fire (only wish it had been a real fire!). Lovely welcome and good food.
