“Stunning Place :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

I booked for me and my partner to stay at The Priory Guesthouse for his birthday.(recommended by a friend) This place is absolutely beautiful. The breakfast is lovely especially the sausages and bacon. Chris and Sarah cant do enough for you and make you feel very much at home. What a lovely couple. We stayed in the Blue Room but The drawing room was by far my favorite room to be in with a glass of wine and the wood burning fire going.

I never write reviews but felt that this needed one. It is in a perfect location, the locals are lovely and the scenery is great.

We took a walk to The Forbidden Corner. If you get chance go there. Its very strange (in a good way)
If you get chance eat at Richard The Third I can not recommend this place enough. The food is so so nice. The portions sizes are huge so be prepared to be very full :)
We also ate at The Black Bull which is nice, Richard the chief is so friendly. He goes out of his way to make you comfortable.

Overall i have nothing bad to say about the whole weekend. I would definitely book to go here again. As soon as we left i wanted to be back there. It is so care free and relaxing.

This is the second time we've been to Middleham, first time at The Coach House. It will not be the last. The accommodation is first class, comfortable, clean and very well equipped. We were greeted with a smile, blankets for the doggy and a home-made cake! Chris and Sarah are friendly and even though they are just next door, they're not 'on your doorstep', we felt at home. We were also given a tour of The Priory. Wow, very luxurious and decorated to a really high standard. Middleham overall is fab, beautiful horses, lovely pubs with friendly, welcoming staff. The locals are great too and freely talk about their great town. Love it, will definitely be going back!

A lovely b and b,was visiting for a trip at nearby attraction 'the forbidden corner' and was going to choose a b and b in middleham or leyburn,am so glad we chose this.We had a lovely warm welcome from Chris and Sarah. They made us feel very at home and made a fuss of my 2 small children.Rooms lovely and comfortable, lot's of small thoughts like getting the children thomas the tank engine yoghurts for their breakfasts.Breakfast lovely, would visit again and recommend to family and friends.Probably the best b and b we have stayed in,a lot due to how thoughtful our hosts were.Middleham a lovely village too.

Room Tip: we had the green room but it seems all rooms lovely

Spent 2 relaxing nights in The Priory with my daughter, during half term. Stayed in the Castle Room which is very comfortable and has a fantastic view of the castle and horses! Great bath! Chris & Sarah are very welcoming hosts and the warm fire, fantastic breakfasts and home-made cake(!) all contributed to create a short break in Middleham which we both want to repeat - soon! Definitely recommended.

We had a one night stay at the Priory, our first visit. We struggled to find anywhere that would accept a one night stay but Sarah and Chris our hosts were more than welcoming, and fate would have it, it's one if not the best guest house stays we've experienced.

The house is beautiful, very tastefully decorated with luxury fittings and little extras. We stayed in the Middleham room on the top floor, a cosy room with a large bathroom and fabulous views of Middleham castle. The village has several horse racing Stables, so for horse lovers it's great, and you can watch the horses pass the house to the moor.

Sarah and Chris are very warm and welcoming and go out of their way to make you at home. A lovely breakfast and no rush to leave at the end of your stay. Can highly recommend, you will not be disappointed! Congratulations to Sarah and Chris!

Really attractive house carefully renovated with no expense spared. Some lovely design features and sensitively selected furnishings. The owners could not have been more welcoming and the recommendation for an evening meal was spot on. Breakfast was high on quality and originality. Will definitely be our default selection when next we stay in the area.

The Priory Guesthouse is a seriously top of the range POSH B&B in a glorious Yorkshire Dales community of Middleham (within sight of Richard III's castle home). One of the racehorse stables centres in the country. This Georgian townhouse, with large bedrooms and sash windows, has recently been taken up to a beautifully high spec by Chris & Sarah Mears.

The accommodation offers a glorious cocktail of sumptuous beds (Egyptian cotton with a topper); good showers (we had the top floor/middle room - it had a free-standing bath and a large double shower and a large (30'x 30'?) guest lounge with an open fire - on the first floor.

Speaking of going beyond the call of duty - our stay related to our son's wedding at the nearby church. We filled the Priory's accommodation and others joined us for coffee and nibbles an hour before walking down to the ceremony. Chris & Sarah ciould simply not have been better hosts. They clearly LOVE what they do. A tricky moment for me was when someone left a lipstick mark on (my first-wear) cream silk collar...Sarah immediately went hunting in her jewelry box...and came up with the perfect little silver pin broach. How kind was that???? No hurry to bring it back. A lovely couple, a lovely spec & setting, a fair price and a local breakfast freshly made to order that couldn't have been beaten anywhere. We would definitely recommend THE PRIORY GUEST HOUSE to all...and will certainly return.

Room Tip: All rooms large with high Georgian ceilings. Top floor has two interesting rooms: Middle one: larg...
