I visited this pub for the first time during a birthday day out with a friend. When we tried to place our order, we were told that the menu had changed that day and non of the vegetarian options were available. Alternatives were then read out to us so quickly, by the unfriendly lady bar tender, that it was hard to take it in. It would have been useful if the menu had shown the changes in the first place.
After this the service went further downhill and we were spoken to very rudely. The food took a very long time to arrive and was mediocre. Nevertheless, we tried to be pleasant, made no complaint at the time and I was bewildered to be treated in such a churlish way.
I have never felt unwelcome in a restaurant before and I definitely shan't be returning to the Railway. My birthday was rather spoiled. I can only think that maybe, unfamiliar non local faces are not welcome in this pub.
