“Gem like in size and quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

I knew some of the artists featured in this gallery but had not placed them in this location. It was a joy to see the work of famous printmakers working between the wars. Its worth a visit to SW just to visit this place. The selection of items for sale is good and their main source of income so buy a lot...

“This gallery deserves all these positive reviews!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2014

Difficult for me to add to the comments already made by recent reviewers, other than to say ("I agree"). We came across an artist we'd not heard of before, who my wife loved; Bernard Cheese. Entrance is free and the supervisors are so knowledgeable and friendly.

It doesn't justify a trip to SW just to see this gallery, but there are so many other lovely things to see here as well (eg the Bridge End Gardens and the Town Trail).

“Very interesting local gallery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

Very well organised gallery and good selection of works by local artists Edward Bawden and Eric Ravilous. If you are visiting Saffron Walden well worth a look along with Bridge End Gardens and the parish church

“A nice suprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Dropped in on the way to Bridge End Garden, as you walk pass here following the town trail.
Plenty to look at & to talk about as the artistes style very between each other, so some will suit you others will not.
Tuck away in a small side room is to touch screen computers, one adult height the other child height, from these you look a the different artistes work on display, the medium used by the artistes, or styles. You could spend more time here then you realise.
Well worth a visit.

“An unexpected delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

Having dropped some friends off at Stansted Airport we were taking a scenic route back to London and decided to stop off at Saffron Walden. Whilst wandering the streets we came across this beautiful gem of a gallery. Although small it still packs a punch with its stunning permanent collection of works by Ravillious and Bawden and imaginative temporary exhibitions.

The volunteer staff are knowledgeable and friendly and rightly proud of their gallery. Well worth a detour to visit!
