“Good place for snack lunch inside or out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Had snack lunch after shopping on Saturday. Hotel getting slightly tatty which is surprising as it should be a Hall & Woodhouse show piece so close to Brewery. Fine old building. Staff civil & pleasant if a little disorganised. Bar does not seem sure whether it is a pub or cafe restaurant. Preparing fancy coffees takes them an age when you are gasping for a pint. Food came quickly after order which we chose to take out side in ther large terrace outside. Have snacked inside before which is quite satisfactory in large lounges. Enjoyed seeing a wedding party in Hotel's private garden.Good selection of wines by the glass. Meal reasonably priced. Quite civilised. Restaurant looked very quiet for a lunch so that may lack atmosphere.

This hotel was the venue for a two day training course I attended. I stayed overnight in the hotel.

Professional, friendly staff who provided great customer service. Always acknowledged customers with a polite smile and greeting. Nothing was too much trouble.

The food was wonderful; breakfast, lunch and diner! Presentation, flavour and quantity were of the highest standard.

Room 18 seemed a little tired with a carpet that needed a deep clean, a cracked sign in the bathroom and furniture which needed a spruce-up.

My son and daughter in law held their wedding at the Crown Hotel very recently. We had the accessible bedroom which was the nicest room of this sort that we have ever had. We had a meal in the dining room on arrival which was absolutely lovely. It's perhaps a little more expensive than some pubs but was well worth the money. The whole wedding was excellent. Robert and his team were unfailingly pleasant, efficient and hard working. They couldn't do enough. The wedding meal was wonderful. All served quickly and efficiently. The room rate included a great choice of well cooked breakfast, again served by happy staff. We really enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking car park are quieter.

stayed just the one night here but that was all that I needed to see that the hotel is excellent. The service was very friendly and personal, my room was lovely and unique, and lastly the food was delicious.

We stayed here as a friend was getting married at the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here. We asked about the possibility of checking in slightly earlier so we could change before the wedding ceremony and the hotel said they would do their best. We were pleased that on arrival our room was ready. The decor is very traditional, quaint. The room and bathroom were clean and the supplies were of a good quality. There was an iron and hairdryer available in the room as well which was handy. Breakfast was good - there was an excellent variety available - and the food and drinks were of a good quality. Plenty of parking available especially as the hotel seemed particularly busy. The staff were pleasant and efficient. Lovely venue for a wedding - the staff were professional and keen to ensure that everything went smoothly. We were very impressed with our stay here and would definitely recommend it.

We managed to get a last minute room on a bank holiday as we were sailing from Poole the following morning.
Overall, it was pleasant and good value. The room was fairly small and a bit old fashioned, but very clean with a reasonable bathroom.
The staff were very nice indeed and we enjoyed a well-presented meal in the restaurant.
It was a warm summer's evening - and there was a spacious patio area where we enjoyed a post-dinner drink.
Our departure was very early - so no breakfast for us.
In summary: it did the job.

Me and my boyfriend have just come back from a overnight stay at the crown to enjoy the dorset steam fair and bournemouth air festival and were extremely please with this place. As to people who work in the hotel industry (a chef and a trainee manager) we found the stay comfortable the room even though it was standard was fantastic just what you would expect. We had dinner in the restaurant and the servoce was great and food absolutely fantastic. Great flavours, good size portions very well presented , and breakfast in the morning the same. Had no faults with this place apart from one little issue with the bath tub having a slight chip in the bottom but tht didnt bover us and we were not fussed. Did mention it on questionaire just so no one could kick up a big fuss.
would definately stay again next time maybe in one of their better rooms.
