“Superb!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2011

Found this gem of a B&B by accident-and have been amazed at the standard of the accomodation and the service that has been given. Pat & Jerry simply cannot do enough to accomodate and are wonderful hosts.
Breakfast is freshly cooked and to one of the highest standards that I have experienced-plenty of fresh fruit, cereals and then a cooked breakfast to die for... and as we work away from home an awful lot have stayed in loads of B&b's and hotels.
Our African themed room was awesome and we slept exceptionally well on the luxurious king sized bed, the room was cleaned to the highest standard.
Nothing is too much trouble and we will definitely be re-visiting when we have to work in the area again.
We would strongly advise anyone visiting Blandford to stay here....

Very friendly and welcoming owners!
Plenty of on site parking space.
Very clean rooms and comfortable beds.
Despite the road in front of the house, bedrooms very quiet.
Fantastic breakfast with great choice and none of our extra request were ever too much trouble.

As with all the other reviews, the service is great and it has everything that you need when touring around the country.
The room we had was comfortable with all the things needed.
The breakfast was superb, nothing was too much bother.
Would deserve 5* for service alone.
In the room I was in if they had thought about the wiring they could have had the celing fan operate without the light staying on through the night (not the one on the ceiling fan but another wired in parallel). Shaver light didn't work. These are just minor points though and I wouldn't hesitate to go back there.
Very satisifed and would recommend to others.

Very helpfull when we phoned and owners Gerry and Pat had no objection to accomodating our little dog.

A warm homely welcome on arrival for our 2 nights stay.

Very very comfy cosy bed, slept like a log !

We were shown to our room which had an African theme which was great.

Breakfast well what a choice!! we had the fresh fruit, yougart, full english and ample toat. fruit juice and tea or coffee. Yummy!!

My partner worked at the millitary base during the day and it was made clear i was welcome to use the guest lounge or our room rather than feel i had to roam the streets waiting for him to finish work !

We were pleased we took up Gerrys recomendation of having our evening meal at 'The Stower Inn' as the food was great.

Look forward to seeing Gerry and Pat on our next trip to Blandford.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my partner whilst we were in Dorset for a wedding. When we arrived, much to our delight, we were told that we would be staying in flat 2 which is a self contained flat with kitchen with en-suite bathroom that can sleep up to 5 people, we were just expecting 1 double room.

The room was quiet, secure, clean and well furnished. The location was very central, just a 3 minute walk from the centre of town. The hosts could not have done any more to make us feel more welcome and were more than happy to assist in any way possible. Breakfast was also to a very high standard.

I have no hesitation in recommending this B&B and would definately stay there again if i were to find myself down that neck of the woods again. A very enjoyable stay, Thank you.

Stayed here for 2 nights as a base for a holiday seeing Dorset. Good central location.

The owners (Gerry and Pat) are very friendly and thoughtful. They remembered everyone's names, and nothing was too much trouble.

Very comfortable bed, lovely, characterful room (en suite with bath & shower), dressing gowns provided plus the usual tea and coffee in the room. Plenty of storage.

Thoroughly recommended.

I stayed here on business with a colleague and booked the Portman Lodge at short notice - there are not too many hotels in the area, certainly no big chain hotels, but I prefer to stay in family-run places anyway so this fit the bill nicely.

The lodge is located just a few minutes' walk from the town centre of Blandford Forum with plenty of pubs and restaurants available (I recommend The Dolphin as an excellent place to eat). There's a large lounge available for guest use downstairs, and the guest rooms are upstairs. Mine was very comfortably furnished and I slept very well - the house is quiet and there was no noise to disturb me.

Breakfast is included with the cost of the room, of course, and one of the hosts, Gerry, cooked an excellent English breakfast with the best scrambled eggs I've ever had - worth the price of the visit alone! The Portman is very accommodating to vegetarians and are happy to offer some special locally made veggie sausages.

There is ample free parking on the enclosed driveway and free wi-fi access is available.

If you're in the area, give this place a go - I'm sure you won't regret it. Ten out of ten!
