The Book Lovers B&B sits above the quirky 'Sanctuary bookshop'. The shop, which is owned by the B&B proprieters too, is a delight in itself with not only books but unusual bric-a-brac, quality collectables and a few fine antiques hidden among the books. The lay out of the B&B is as higgledy Piggledy as the shop with walls filled, celing to floor with books. The bedrooms are cosy and reminsicent of a bygone era. The front bedroom has a lovely view of the harbour and the sea which is literally a stones throw away. Charm oozes from this place - the tea tray has bone china cups, a worn tea caddy and the table is draped in a flowery cotton cloth. The furnishings are mostly antique and the floors are all stripped and polished floorboards. The bathrooms (not en-suite but one for each bedroom ) are excellent quality with repro-victoriana at its best. They are also immaculately clean. There is a sitting room overlooking the sea with plenty of video's and, of course, books to read in the evenings. The atmosphere is one of relaxed, shabby chic'. Bob and Mariko, are truly lovely people who make their guests feel at home and relaxed. This is a B&B for people who like clutter, friendship, good books and the sound of the sea. It isn't for minimalists who are into stainless steel, space and designer bed sets. The breakfast is English, with Herring or Japanese options. The food is generous and well cooked. The marmalade, jam and honey was the best quality too. I have stayed in many B&B's, some of them very expensive and dissapointing. This B&B is such good value for money, the hosts just couldn't be more accomodating. I wish them all the best and urge you to go and stay there.
