On arrival, a warm welcome was had by a mature lady with a posh accent, we had booked the studio flat/room and it was up a spiral staircase which was in the back yard. The room itself was not bad at all, quite large. We were told all the local amenities were all downhill and very steep. Getting back was a problem after a few pints, up the bloody steep hill, either by road or thru' the gardens. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. On the whole not bad but very expensive. WiFi was a problem but didn't bother to ask.

Well it's coming up to a year since I mistakingly chose to take my closest friends and family to River Cottage to celebrate my big 4.0.!It is only now that i feel able to write and warn of this wretched place The Kersbrook, which we used for a base.
From the outset and the far from warm welcome things were terrible, the rooms were very dated and tired, the owner an elderly gent who has more than outstayed his welcome as an Hotelier. Aside from the rooms we had a episode on returning from a magnificent evening at RC, our good friends noticed that their bed was completely soaked and so had to find somewhere else to stay at 1am!!!when we approached the elderly owner we were all told to "find somewhere else"if we were not happy with our friends having to leave.... Our friends had to call a relative half an hour away to collect and accommodate them!!!!The owner said water had come through the ceiling yet there was no damage?? My very good friends happen to be a male couple and the hotel happened to be adorned with religious symbols, you can make your own judgment! The following morning the gentleman told me it happened to be a "Dergo valve" that had fallen over and leaked, amazing really as these are only an air vent to the plumbing with no water in them!!!
Unless they have got rid of the so say Christian then stay away from this place it ruined my birthday, out of date, tired, grubby and expensive for what it is!!!

Room Tip: A different Hotel than here!

Very disappointed. Stayed here on a four night break mid September and thought we would treat ourselves to lovely accommodation. Room small & basic, washbasin in room making it cramped. The small loo/shower has been added to make it an en-suite, soo small we had to dry ourselves in the bedroom. No shower-cap or box of tissues provided, only two shampoos and a small shower gel, no conditioner. Had to ask for tea-bags and milk for our morning 'cuppa'. Proprietor didn't take responsibility for this but blamed the chambermaid. Free WiFi didn't work in the bedroom & proprietor not interested when asked about it. Black grime in shower was very old. Ordered the smoked haddock for breakfast on the first morning, it was a long time coming and was quite dried-up, next three days it was fine. Have stayed in better B&Bs for half the price. Parking very tight as building a bungalow at the rear. Proprietor's are property developers and it shows.

Just spent a night at this hotel. The place is rather old fashioned and our room on the top floor was rather tired, windows dirty, paint slightly in need of good clean. We saw other rooms which looked very good and the breakfast was good and well served. The price was high by the standards of our experience for the standard provide which was variable. The welcome was excellent.
They state, correctly, that they are 300 metres from the Cobb but fail to mention that it is down a very steep hill. Not suitable if you are not fit or have a heart condition.

Room Tip: Avoid top floor

We have just returned from a weekend at the Kersbrook having chosen Lyme to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately the place is very tired and lacks the little extras that make somewhere special especially considering the charge. They seem to be building extra accomodation in the car park I would recommend that they update their rooms first. The dining room can not accomodate all the present guests at once we had to wait for a vacant table for breakfast. I would most definately not recommend this to anyone I wish we had chosen more wisely.

During the Summer holidays, myself and my family decided to take an unexpected break to Lyme Regis, after searching for B&B's/hotels around that area,we came across The Kersbrook ,reading some of the most recent reviews, and their website,it shows that this B&B was well furnished, was a good price,etc..
However this was not the case, arriving in the afternoon, the supposedly "ample space" as stated on their website, turned out to be small and cramped because of another part of the B&B being built!
Entering the building, the carpet needed desperate attention to be hoovered,we then found our way to the reception, the Lady was very kind and welcoming to us (which we could not fault) and lead us up to our room,we stayed in the two rooms in the attic(me and my husband in one room, then my daughter and son in the other ,the room was fairly clean, with a decent size bed, which was comfortable and had clean sheets, but the decor was extremely out dated and needed work, the room was fitted with a tv,tea making facilities and clean towels which was a possitive, but after tasting the UHT milk it was off-putting, because there was no frigde,so in the end we had to buy our own milk..
Scanning the bathroom (which was also out dated)it had a bath, with a hand held shower(it was was stated on the website)but the water was lower power and extremely tepid,no matter what time of the day ,and ,also the bath was extremely unstable, and tiny, even for my smallest and youngest son, which was nto at all good, after that dilemma,me and my husband decided to ask to swap rooms,to have a proper shower, but even that shower had very tepid water and no power either!,but at least that room was more modernised than the attic room, then finding out my children had to move to another room due to an overbooking, which we was not pleased about.
Moving onto the next morning to breakfast,we had to wait several minutes-half an hour to be seated because the tables were packed, after getting a seat,we soon tucked into our breakfast, the food was enjoyable, but had hardly no choice for children in cereals, they had very unhygeneic ways of laying the table (clean cuttlery was placed on the chairs, while putting the table cloth down). On the subject of being clean, dirty cups were left for 2 days in the lounge, making us and other people pick them up!
Staying at any B&B/hotel we have high expectations because of a high price,we pay our hard earned money to have a break, but this was not a thing you could call a break! We would never stay there again, and definately wont be recommending it to anyone!
Apart from that Lyme Regis itself is a very picturesque place, but is very, very hilly!
