Stopped for a 'farmers Lunch' on the way to the National Trust 'Greenway House'
Food took 25 minutes to prepare (in an empty pub) and turned out to be a basic 'ploughmans' cheese & pickle which was awful despite a hefty £10 price tag.
Limp lettuce, bendy celery, no mayonaise or butter for the stale bread, small piece of flabby ham & cheap supermarket cheese on a dirty plate with smeared cutlery. Pub toilets were a disgrace as was the state of the overpriced cask beer and the attitude of the bar staff who couldn't have cared less about our legitimate complaint about the food. Don't go anywhere near this place .
Found out later a similar meal @ Greenway was 100% tastier and 50% cheaper !

We stayed at the manor for two nights .We had a welcoming greating from the staff . We booked in for a meal for the first night and were so impressed we booked for the second! The menu was fresh, local and varied and the bar staff couldn't be more helpful , informing us of all the local attractions of the beaten trail . I would visit again and recommend to everyone

Stayed here for 1 night. Nice room, clean and comfortable. Food in the evening was disappointing. It was steak night, steak OK but tasteless. Service dis-organised. there were 2 of us, but somehow they took an order for 4 meals? Also the steak night deal of 2 meals and a bottle of wine did not materialise. We had the meals but no wine. Breakfast was much better.

My husband and I ate at the Manor Inn during our stay at a different location in Galmpton, Breakfast was included as part of our stay and Linda did a fantastic job with a wonderful cooked breakfast. Dinner, however, the night before was very disappointing. My husband ordered the burger for £9.50 which was dry and overcooked and served in a wholegrain roll. This came with big pile of rocket and beef dripping chips which he was looking forward to but unfortunately, they had not been cooked enough! I ordered a mozarella and vine tomato salad which again came with a huge pile of rocket and a side order of garlic bread. The salad was pretty average but it was the garlic bread that really got me - the cost was £2.50 for three slices and it was worse than stuff I have bought from Tesco before at 99p for ten slices! Honestly, at that price, I expect it to be home made, especially in a pub that obviously prides itself on the quality of its food. Both my husband and I have worked within the catering industry so we do not feel we are being overly fussy, we just expect a good standard because the prices were not cheap. Onto pricing - £3.80 for a pint of Guiness is a tad over the top as well! All in all, service was good but had we not been returning for breakfast the following morning, we certainly would have complained about the food. We would consider returning for a drink but not to eat.

Food not nice. Over cooked mains. Under cooked creme brûlée. Run out of food even when it was not busy. Over priced. Slow service. Bit stale smoke smell. Beer was good food was poor. Never enjoyed it. Would not go hack for food again.

We booked this pub for its location and due to its close proximity to the estuary, cannot fault it for that. The outside of the pub is a little shabby and when we pulled into the carpark I thought we had made a big mistake in booking here. On the plus side, the room was great, clean and had everything you needed for an overnight stay. On the negative side, the evening meal was shocking! We were sat on a tiny little table right in the path of everyone walking by, the starter was cold and had to be sent back and the main was really nothing special. If I stayed here again, I would definately eat out. That said, the breakfast was great (must have been a different cook) and the lady who served it was very friendly. We had a wonderful weekend, not sure if I would stay here again. I do feel that the price we paid was a little steep all things considered.
