“Warm and friendly in quality surroundings - Great breakfast.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2010

After much searching on the net, we found this accomodation. The write up seemed promising so we decided to give it a go. We were not disapointed.

We found Higher Trevorrick at the end of a small cornish lane. What a gem. On the coldest day of the year so far, we received a very warm welcome from Lorraine and David. We were offered refreshments and then shown to our room.

Immaculate and luxurious is the best way to describe it. Quality bathroom fittings and beautiful bedding.
On the first floor you can find a lounge area with envious views over the Camel estuary and further on to the "Rock".
The house has plenty of parking in well maintained gardens.

We are fairly well travelled and have stayed in accomodation of varying standards and paid a range of prices. But I have rarely received this level of service and comfort irrespective of price. Lorraine and David plus family, run a very proffesional business with experience brought from their previous hotel years.

I was impressed by David when he explained the level of detail they had gone to when setting up the rooms etc, right down to the hot water system to ensure no faultering hot water delivery whilst in the shower. Thankfully the shower was supplied with plenty of hot water, the design works very well.

The breakfast again was amazing with a vast selection, catering for all needs from fruit up to the full english. I cannot wait until we go back for a longer stay in th summer when we plan to sample more of the fine food on offer.

All involved could not do enough for us including filling my washer bottle with water for the long jourmey home. Manty thanks for making us feel so welcome.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Great rooms and the food was excellent. A great adult getaway and relaxing. Agreat point at which to explore the Cornish coastline. Would reccommend the Pickwick we had two meals and both were great.

Never been served a better breakfast! The range of fruits, fresh juice along with choice of traditional english breakfast, smoked salmon, haddock & continental cuisine made for an excellent start to the day.

You'd struggle to find better hosts than David & Lorraine. Friendly but aware that personal privacy & space is essential for the perfect stay.

The decor also remarked a great balance. Beautifully cordinated. Simple yet warm. The views from the upstairs lounge are delightful. From there you can see the 40 minute walk into Padstow - an appealing alternative to getting there by car!

This was a 3-night stay with my Mum. I left England for Whistler, BC some 10 years ago now. We' been looking forward to this time together for a while. Trevorrick Country House did not let us down!

Thanks David & Lorraine, and thanks also to their daughter, Sarah for the wonderful food!

Caroline.

What a fantastic stay we had here , we have stayed in many hotels in the area but this is definately one of the best . The hosts David and Lorraine made us feel so welcome , nothing was too much trouble for them , it felt very homely and relaxed , we had a beautiful room which overlooked the estuary , it was amazing . Food here was first class just like the service , we will definately be returning

We have just spent an excellent week at Higher Trevorrick, which is located in the Cornish countryside with panoramic views over the Camel estuary towards Rock and Polzeath. The proprietors, David and Lorraine Goldsworthy, were excellent hosts keen to make every effort to make our stay as enjoyable as possible - lending maps, suggesting day trips if the weather looked suspect, etc.

The breakfasts (choice of full Cornish, haddock, kippers plus croissants, fruit cereals) are probably the best we have ever had and arrived on piping hot plates - a frequent letdown in some other establishments. In the evening, three-course meals are available and it is testament to their quality that we chose to eat there every single night, despite the lure of Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth in nearby Padstow. Not only do you get excellent portions of well-presented local produce, but there are also the added touches of speciality breads, Cornish cheeseboard and mints with the coffee.

Our room (on the upper floor) was excellently furnished with a large en-suite bathroom, extremely comfortable bed, flatscreen TV, minibar, tea/coffee facilities, wireless internet - better than many multi-star hotels we have stayed in! Then there was that magnificent view across the fields and over the estuary. There is also a large guest lounge on the upper floor where you can take your drinks and coffee and chat to other guests.... or simply admire the stunning view through the large picture windows.

The grounds are extensive and surrounded by fields and farmland - great to watch the sunsets over the surrounding hills. There are even a couple of baby goats to discover. if you are energetic, you can dispense with the car and walk into Padstow (and beyond) down a lane, across some fields and along the Camel Trail which follows an old rail track along the estuary - takes about an hour. Cycling along the trail is also popular (hire in Padstow or Wadebridge). This is an ideal (indeed idyllic) place for a relaxing holiday in a rural setting offering high quality facilities and excellent food. What more could anyone want?

It's clear that when David and Lorraine decided to open Higher Trevorrick, they decided to set the very highest possible standards. Everything is faultless: from the warmth of their greeting, to the care and attention they pay all their guests. Everything is spotlessly clean, and all the rooms are very luxurious. Our bedroom suite, which had a triple aspect looking over the beautiful Cornish countryside, had everything you could wish for.

Their breakfasts are delicious: four different artisan breads, croissants, cereals, very fresh fruit, yoghurts, the full English, smoked haddock, kippers and plenty more. At the very good dinners, apart from the standard wine list, David sometimes has some other interesting wines. It's worth asking him about them.

All in all, one of the best places we've stayed at.
