“My birthday meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2014

First class meal in this small family run hotel. Food as usual superb, and staff very good. Vibrant, friendly and first class.
We will come again. Family welcome, and dog friendly. Perfect. Much money spent by the owner keeping this hotel up to date.

We stayed here for three nights at the beginning of August. The room was spacious with a good sized en suite and it was very clean. One quibble would be the lack of storage space, the wardrobe was very low so that long garments were a bit scrunched. The breakfast was excellent with good choices based upon quality ingredients . We also ate out in the bistro which was also good and good value.
The meeting and greeting was a bit lacking there is a reception desk but staff seemed to be busy with other things we weren't shown to our rooms for instance. However apart from that the staff were friendly and helpful. At up to £180 a night I thought it was a little on the pricey side but it's a nice small hotel in a good location. Not far from the station and a quick route into Edinburgh.

Room Tip: The Fly Half bistro is very lively until quite late on and our front facing room was noisy so maybe...

Wow what a lovely Bistro. So friendly - so clean - so modern and the food is lovely and fresh. We have been visiting the Fly half since we discovered the place in January and always pay a visit when we are in the area. The food on all our visits is fresh and very well presented regardless if it is a sandwich or a main meal. They do allow well behaved dogs which is great after a long walk and even provide water for them. Great wine selection. Very good quality at very good prices. The best place to eat and drink in North Berwick. Thanks Fly Half for your wonderful service -Derek, Kim and Bruce (the little black cocker spaniel)

We ate here a couple of weeks ago (two adults, two kids). Pretty good menu selection and reasonable value. Interesting beers behind the bar also. NIce modern layout and the staff were very helpful. I would return.

Fantastic meal tonight at Nether Abbey. Main meals were great and desserts even better. (Just because to me I eat the main to get to the best part) lol Only down side was with the fishcakes. It said with salad but you only got lettuce. Thats not a salad!! Service was bit slow but lovely staff. Will look forward to going back again soon.

Visited the Nether Abbey for dinner with a couple of my friends. We were guided to a table by a waitress but then rudely told to move by what looked like the manager. The steak was tiny for the price paid for it and the peppercorn sauce watery. Apart from that the rest of the food was lovely, as were the surroundings.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

We stayed at the Nether Abbey for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. Our room was spacious, well decorated and appointed, with a comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Toiletries were renewed daily and bathrobes and slippers supplied. There were tea/coffee making facilities and on arrival, a small tray of fresh fruit. Breakfast was plentiful and good, the more so for being cooked individually for you. We dined in the restaurant 3 times. The food was very good indeed. On the first occasion service was a bit hit and miss but fine on both other occasions. There was a good choice of options on the menu and the wine list was reasonable. The Nether Abbey is well-located with the beach being only minutes away and the centre of town only a little further on. The bar/restaurant - "The Fly Half" - is very popular and can be busy both at lunch time and evening which can mean the smallish car park can fill up quickly. The Nether Abbey is not cheap but I felt it represented reasonable value all in all.
