“Cheap & Cheerful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Another JD Wetherspoon success story? Great choice beer, plenty of offers, usual pub fayre again with plenty of choice, with a few meals offering drink included. Can get a bit busy on Friday/Saturday nights. Breakfast good, free wi-fi, decor great, a nice place for a quiet drink and a meal through the week.

“Terrific value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Noisy, busy Friday lunchtime at Thetford's J D Wetherspoon. Lots of families with excited young children. We chose mixed grills plus a pint for me and apple juice for my companion. Price? About £26 all-up! Can't beat that for value! Food slightly on the 'well-done' side but perfectly edible. Toilets lovely and clean. Will certainly go again.

“The Red Lion Wetherspoons”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

The Red Lion has recently been completely refurbished and reopened as a Wetherspoons. What a relief! The real ale selection in Thetford is normally dire, but me and my dark ale loving partner can usually find something we like there.

Evening food is average, with portions less than what I would expect for a dinner out - however, they are open from 8am for breakfast and their fry ups are fairly good value.

“The best pub-restaurant of its kind in Thetford”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I don't usually like chain restaurants but this has proved to be the exception. Ok it's not exactly 'haute cuisine' but for the money it's excellent value. Prices start at about £4.00 for a tasty, well cooked meal which includes a drink. The menu is varied and appetising, the staff polite and friendly and the decor very tasteful. On the downside it can seem a little understaffed at times and ordering at the bar can be a bit of a scrum, but apart from that you get good food at affordable prices in pleasant surroundings. Well worth a visit.

“Good value food - not so good on service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012 via mobile

We visited soon after it reopened as a Wetherspoon, the food was excellent value though service was a little lacking. They were really busy and seemed unable to cope.
Its a bit off putting having a bouncer on the door at lunchtime but inside is very comfortable and cosy.
Unfortunately the cheap food and meal deals does encourage families with small children, so there was a lot of shrieking and running around going on, but for the money - I would definitely go back again.
