“what a gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

my husband and I booked a table at this restaurant after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and tasted amazing. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to accomodate you. I have booked again for my birthday.cant wait!

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

By far the best restaurant in Thetford and not resting on their laurels. Great service, friendly staff, lovely food and nice atmosphere. What more could you want. I would ignore the less positive reviews, they smack of snobbery about the town more than anything else. If you haven't been go for it!

“Simply Deeeeelish......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Visited once again with Grandparents and my 4 children, was not disappointed as usual. From Wild boar sausage, halibut, calf liver, duck, partridge and venison dishes that where all hits. Beautifully and simply presented could not fault a thing.

Deserts, Coffee, a great cheese board with a nice port.

A lovely relaxing atmosphere and surroundings with excellent hosts and service.

As good as any world class restaurant i have eaten in around the world!!

See you Christmas Eve :)

“The best place to eat in the Thetford area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

We went to The Mulberry for my wife's birthday. The food was excellent and the two men serving us were so well manned and helpful. The staff at other restaurants could learn a thing or two from them. Helpings are not large, but the result is you do not get bloated and feel full at the end of the meal. Prices are expensive, but you get what you pay for. Recommended.

“It's a gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Other than one rather bizarre rating on here, this restaurant seems invariably to score highly. Then we had a personal recommendation, so we thought we should give it a try for our wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed.

Walking into the micro-bar gets you a warm welcome from your avuncular host (who we understand is Chef's father) and a walk through the delightfully styled-restaurant to your table. For those wanting a pre-dinner drinks there is a beautiful lounge; ext time we visit we'll arrive early rather than late. Navigation through Thetford can be a little challenging, but parking in the main square puts you just a few yards away.

Karen looks after front-of house and Maitre D and does it with a panache all of her own. She manages her own particular blend of friendliness and efficiency beautifully; somehow you know instantly that this promises to be a great experience.

The menu is sensibly short, but leaves you wishing you had room for three of four starters followed by at least two entrees, if not more. Lots of local produce and interesting combinations. It is inspired.

For me the venison was standout; for Sandra it was the Turbot special. Everything beautifully presented without being fussy, and tasting gorgeous.

The equally short wine list is well-priced and offers an adequate selection without needing hours of study.

The waiting staff are well-trained. Attentive without being obtrusive.

This place ticks all the boxes and we will be returning. We have explored nearly all the choices in the Bury St Edmunds > Newmarket > Thetford area and only Brown's challenges the Mulberry for food, but doesn't match atmosphere.

Expensive? I wouldn't say so. By not stinting on the wine we reached just £45/head. I've had plenty of £35/head meals that have left me feeling short-changed. Here I left convinced I had been served every penny's worth.

Visit! You won't be sorry.
