“Lovely food, great surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2014 via mobile

Went to Congham Hall for dinner on saturday evening. The restaurant itself is elegant without being too formal. It was quite busy in the dining room but nothing seemed rushed and there wasnt any long waits between courses. The food was lovely and was well presented.

A few small let downs were that there was no amuse bouch or petit fours. For a restaurant which seems to be striving for michelin standards and definately not far from michelin prices one or both of these would have been a nice touch to compliment the meal.
Secondly, the wating staff were all well presented but for my taste I thought the restaurant manager was too casually dressed and perhaps should be wearing a suit.

On the whole Congham Hall is a lovely place to dine out and plan to go back in the future.

Thank you for taking the trouble to write about your recent dinner here. I am not sure what constitutes striving for Michelin standards. We are included in the Michelin guide, although don’t aspire to gain a star and we like to think our menu pricing offers good value. For example, you can enjoy three courses for dinner for around £30 a head. Our coffee is indeed served with petit fours and I’m sorry if this wasn’t the case when you dined. We are pleased to see that none- the-less you enjoyed your evening with us and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

I had decided not to review Congham Hall Hotel, because sometimes the best kept secret is best kept.
However, the staff were so helpful, relaxed , friendly and professional , if you can possibly believe that combination, I felt it mean not to commend them.
Since we last stayed there two years ago, new owners have upgraded a faded country house charm, removed the worn sofas, and the cat, the dreadful carpet in the dining room, painted and improved all the rooms, created a stunning new bar, improved the House rooms, and finished the Spa. They have kept the log fires, the informal reception area, the fantastic stairs which are an architectural gem, the authentic creaky floors in the old house, the groundfloor garden rooms, the hot tub on the deck and the tropical storm showers, and the best steam room ever. 26 rooms, 23 tables in the dining room, top notch chef, the food was really excellent, and this on a quiet winter Sunday.
So what would you like to know?
Complimentary newspaper, and bottled water, morning tea brought to your room, or tea making facilities if you preferred, big choice of pillows, dvd player, large screen TV, library of good books, and films, and games. Choice of lounge areas, each with its own fire, very comfortable chairs, undoubtedly the best breakfast choice we have ever had in a hotel, we sampled the afternoon tea, and coffee, evening meal, were impressed by the wine list being presented on an Ipad left with us to scroll through, we were made to feel nothing was too much trouble. It is the sort of place where I would not expect to be told to " enjoy" . though I think I detected it once, although I am sure he was only teasing!
Full marks and thanks for cleaning my windscreen.

Room Tip: Traditional House rooms are all upstairs, garden rooms easyaccess and contemporary.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent stay with us, we are delighted that you had a change of heart and decided to review us! It makes such a difference to know that you enjoyed your visit and it gives me particular pleasure to read that you appreciated so many of the things we have here and the upgrades that have been made to the house over the past year by the new owners. We rely a great deal on young but enthusiastic staff and I’m sure you could probably tell, we genuinely do want our guests to have a great time and we look forward to welcoming you back to Congham before too long.

Congham hall is a hidden gem in Norfolk! So pleased i came across it when looking for a luxury spa break!I travelled with a friend for my birthday treat and we were not dissapointed!
The grounds are beautiful and a warm welcome awaits you at reception.
We were taken to a lovely room Echinica. The room had wonderful views and was very spacious and comfy. The hotel had up graded us for my birthday which was a lovely touch.
All the rooms looked very nice and the new garden rooms are amazing!
All the staff were pleasent and helpful and always happy!
The food was superb and excellent breakfast too.I could not fault anything.

The spa was wonderful and spotless!Again the spa staff were very helpful. We loved the hot tub and it was quiet so we had the pool etc to ourselves! The treatments were fantastic and the Elemental Herbology products are fabulous. This real is a good spa alongside Ragdale hall.Actually the treatments were better than what weve had at ragdale!

A lot of thought has gone into congham halll,You can see this in the decor and its so tasteful and relaxing.I will for sure be going to stay here again as i carnt praise it enough!Planning a break with my husband and iam sure another spa break too!

Thankyou congham hall for a wonderful stay and to all your hard working kind staff.

Fully relaxed and chilled after sitting in front of the beautiful roaring fire in the tastefully decorated lounge. Lovely tea and food in lovely surrounding with attentive staff and multiple choices of tea for every taste.

Hoping to return for the spa experience later in the year.

Fantastic place, excellent service with great food. A very nice, cosy and relaxing hotel. We would definitely visit again.
The only downside is that there is no where else to go close by for food or drink, should you so wish. The only local pub is closed.

We stayed here for Christmas 2013 and it was the most relaxing and enjoyable break we've had for a long time. From the moment we arrived to heading home, the service, food, spa, entertainment and general ambience was first class. I had never been away for Christmas before but Congham Hall made me want to book for 2014 as soon as I got home. This was very much down to the Iittle added extras throughout our stay. For example, buying a new Monopoly set for us to play when we mentioned we would like a game (as theirs was old and missing pieces). Gorgeous presents and stocking for us outside our door on Christmas Day. Washing our windscreen before we left for our journey home. The list goes on.

This beautiful independent hotel and spa has nailed customer service and has raised the bar on what we expect from hotels going forward. Massive thanks to the staff there for making our Christmas really special. We can't recommend Congham Hall highly enough.

Had very relaxing weekend stay with my husband at Congham Hall. The hotel has a lovely private country house feel, the staff are welcoming yet discreet and the food was very good. Our room faced the gardens and was a short walk to the spa, which we didn't use on this occasion but looked very inviting. In a good position, and managed to see quite a lot of the area. We would definitely stay again if in or around Kings Lynn, and have passed the details on to family and friends.
