“Just short of perfect!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2012

We have visited the tearooms on numerous occasions.
The inside of the tearooms is lovely and the garden area outside is delightful to sit in when the weather is good.
Food is generally of a good standard and the cakes are AMAZING!
The staff are always friendly. The only reason I did not give a five star overall rating was that I wish that when some of the staff bring food outside the don't just dump the tray. In a tearoom I would expect to have the food/ drinks served to me and the tray taken back. They also ( apart from one dark haired lady on this occasion) seem blind to the fact that tables are often full of dirty plates. They happily bring food out to customers and then walk back in empty handed. Customers should not have to clear their own table before sitting down.
If this could be sorted out then the place would definitely deserve the top rating!

“Love, love, love it!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

We visit this regularly. It's a lovely tea room with great scones and homemade cakes and pies. If you want a real traditional tea room, this is it. We recently dined for dinner and about the only complaint is that they don't have even a paper menu to view but the waitress reads it out to you. Not much of a complaint. It is a delightful place and feels very welcoming. Love it for lunch, the sandwiches are wondeful. Had the quiche once and it was of very high standards. I have heard from several friends that the breakfast is first class. The staff are busy and very friendly. Come and enjoy you won't be disappointed.

“Excellent and highly recommended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

I cannot recommend this quaint little tea room enough. Had a traditional English cooked breakfast with coffee and it was exceptional. The food was high quality, extremely tasty and cooked perfectly. The price was extremely reasonable and the staff could not have been more friendly or courteous. The additional items for sale within the tea rooms were unique, good quality and fairly priced. The opening review for this establishment, left by the poor lady who felt the need to cry, due to the highly priced items for sale and reportedly non speaking staff, is in my opinion completely inaccurate could not be further from the truth!

“Chic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2011

So very tastefully designed.
Wonderful food, happy staff who were kind, fast and always on hand to help.
The day I went it was very busy and we were seated outside in the lovely garden area.

Just loved it here! So Classy, so chic, so going back!

“Ignored by Staff in a small English Tearoom”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

Interior and exterior:
tasteful with
furnishings, furniture and accessories are for sale
curtains and cushions designed by Unique's interior design team

The Menu:
Selection of homemade food, hot and cold drinks

Options:
As noted on the menu, sit outside and order yourself at the indoor counter
Eat inside and enjoy table serive

Positive:
Typical little english tearoom
Quaint building
Quaint village
Virtually next door to the 12th century Castle Rising

Negative:
the for sale items vastly expensive
being ignored

What happened:
We took a Saturday ride out, wishing for a village walk, stopping at an English tearoom for a coffee and scone. We sat inside. As the menu states, inside is waitress service. We were ignored ... no eye contact from staff, no-one came over. The room is very small so we couldn't be missed. If table/waitress service no longer applies then out of politeness a member of staff could have mentioned we should go to the counter and order then return to our seats. And the menus need updating. We were well-mannered, dressed suitably, did not shout or use bad language - we walked out. It upset me so much, I did cry outside. Yeah I know! It was Valentine weekend and this was something I fancied doing and my hubby was working on the official day ... I wrote to Unique stores and as expected, never received a reply. Got the impression Unique think a little too highly of themselves and given the economic climate, it isn't the time to agrieve clientele. People always pass on the negative.

Rating:
1/10 for the building only
