“Loved it !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

Stayed for just one night last week in room 7, its not a huge bedroom but its very well appointed and has a large bathroom with freestanding bath and a lovely seperate shower.

We really liked the view over the church yard, you can hear the bells at night and they chime very frequently however the ear plugs provided really do work a treat and blocked my husbands snoring which takes some doing ! Saying that though the bells are not annoying anyway (well we didnt think so) and we did also sleep with the window open mainly as it was a little warm due to the sudden burst of nice weather ! We'd definately book this room again in future.

I liked the thoughtful little touches like the flask of milk so you can actually make a decent cup of tea in your room, the homemade oaty biscuits were divine ! Loved the decent size toiletries from the Bath House, only thing i would improve is a little bottle of hair conditioner would also be useful.

The service we received from everyone was brilliant from the minute we arrived to when we left. Parking is a bit tricky buts thats to be expected in this kind of location, Sarah was on hand when we pulled up with directions of where to park for free ... we ended up about a 10 minute walk away however you can pull up outside to drop off / pick up bags etc.

The bar has a lovely atmosphere, the food in the restaurant was excellent both for the evening meal and also breakfast ...faultless !

Having stayed i can now see why this place gets such good reviews, i think they have the combination right of attention to detail, high standards, excellent service and food ... so theres not much more anyone can ask for.

I'd love to stay again in future.

Stayed overnight in room 7 as a birthday present. Lovely room with a big bathroom. Both the bath and the separate shower were great. Had a lovely view of the church and grounds.
Had a meal in the restaurant in the evening. The food was very good and great value. The service was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful.
A good base to stay when visiting Kirby Lonsdale and the surrounding area.

Room Tip: Room 7 had a great view and bathroom. Some noise from the guests on the floor above but not too int...

Our third time here. Welcoming atmosphere, happy buzz in the bar and dining room. Well-appointed very clean room with a bed that just snuggles you in. Hosts and all staff are friendly and professional and make you feel welcome and looked-after. Breakfasts are excellent - fresh fruits, home made granola, great yoghurts, full cooked (local produce) and croissants. Table d'hote and a la carte dishes are well prepared and presented. The lemon sole was the freshest I've ever tasted.
Church bells add a touch of interest to the night, but earplugs are provided, if they disturb, rather than delight, you.

Room Tip: If you aren't into church bells during the night, choose a room facing the road - but you'll...

One of the best all rounders we've stayed at. Room was good, staff lovely and food excellent. Initially booked as a stop over on a long journey but will definately go back.

We didn't get parked so close to the hotel but it's an old picturesque town and in the middle of July at the weekend it's not exactly unexpected, the staff were very helpful with tips for parking.

Just spent two nights here, it was relaxing and fabulous. The food was wonderful, we usually like to eat out our second night anywhere, but after a wander through the town we decided to try the dishes we were contemplating the night before, we were not disappointed.
Thank you for a great stay, hopefully next time you will not be as booked up so we can try your superior rooms.

Wonderful location, great food, attention to detail in staff helpfulness, bath towels, robes, cosmetics etc. Church bells, to-die-for views 2 mins away, swallows darting, owls hooting between clock chimes, wonderful food: lamb so tender, duck confit and plum crummble as good as it gets. Great place.

Room Tip: look out out on the churchyard

This is my second time at the Sun Inn, first with my husband and then the second Visit with my sister, we had a brilliant time from the moment we arrived to when we left. The rooms are superb, they are immaculate and the attention to detail is first class. We ate in the restaurant both nights, well all I can say is wow! My sister had the matured steak which she said is unbelievable, I had the pork which was just perfect ! The staff are all great and are very helpful. This place is one of the Yorkshire Dales finest I can't wait to go back, hopefully won't be tol long.
