My wife and I had heard that a new chef had taken over at the Pheasant Inn and decided to have dinner there. We were not disappointed: a warm welcome from incredibly friendly staff; lovely cosy fires and a particularly warm and cosy snug in which to relax. The food was of a very high quality, certainly as good as any of the gourmet pubs in the Cumbria area. The belly pork and pease pudding is outstanding as are the salads. For main course we tried the beef and ale pie and the vegetarian crumble: both well worth trying. We live in Switzerland and are used to high standards. The Pheasant Inn is a superior restaurant and not to be confused with offering simple pub food. it represents good dining at reasonable prices. We understand that the Inn has recently changed hands. The owners and their chef are to be congratulated. On our regular visits back to Cumbria we will make this a certain port of call.
