“Easy stop point for Dali visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

Pro:
You can feel the history throughout - incl Dali.
Very professional wait & bar staff.
GREAT breakfast. Jam excellent.
Car parking out front (free); or secure at back.

Con:
English limited; but you seem to get by.
Lift is slow, but that's OK.
Rooms are getting tired; but for price & the style throughout its fine.

Did not dine in - looked fabulous though.

Tip: ask for a room out the back.

We were looking for a good hotel in Figueres that took dogs, but was not on a busy road. This was ideal. The refurbished rooms were fine, and the bathroom was particularly well appointed.

Only complaints were the hassle over secure parking (you have to drive round the back of the hotel and try to find the unmarked entrance door) and the fact that you couldn't eat in the restaurant until 9 o/clock.

I know that's Spain for you, but they should try and cater for non-Spaniards who have driven all day and are looking for a meal before crashing out early. We knew this would be a problem so drove the short distance into the town and had an excellant meal in a centre restaurant, that did cater for toursists strange eating habits!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper make sure you ask for a room "at the back" overlooking the coun...

This was only a one night stop over for bed and breakfast on the 25th of September 2013; but I will definitely be back at some point. I was very impressed with the standard of the hotel. It was clean fresh and modern but retained a charm about it. The staff were courteous and available. The breakfast room was pleasantly laid out and had a good choice of quality fresh food items to suit all tastes.
The room had a modern Jacuzzi bath as well as a shower facility. There was a well-stocked fridge and the room had a safe that you didn’t have to pay any extra for; which is a novelty in itself. If I had to give a little moan; the bed sheets were a little over starched for me but that really is nit picking.
I will definitely be back as I missed out on a local visit to the Dali museum; which I have since been assured is well worth a visit.

Good, clean, spacious rooms, with extras such as slippers and nice toiletries. Free wifi. We just used this hotel as a stopover heading to our next destination, but we enjoyed the short stay. Our room faced the highway. We couldn't sleep with the doors (there was a huge balcony) open, because of the traffic noise (even in the middle of the night there are lots of cars passing by). With the doors closed the room is excellently isolated/made soundproof and the hotel has AC. Didn't have breakfast here so can't comment on that. Shame we did not try the gourmet restaurant for dinner, now that I've read the other reviews on that....

Room Tip: In rooms facing the road/highway it is impossible to sleep with the window/balcony door open, becaus...

My husband and I recently visited the Figueres area and had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. We were visiting a Spanish friend of ours about an hour away from this hotel and he recommended this hotel to spend the evening. We called directly to the hotel mid afternoon for that evening and made reservations for two rooms which we were told were available. We paid with our credit card and told them our arrival time would be about 9 pm. Upon arrival shortly after nine, we get to the front desk and are first told our rooms are available. The front desk receptionist walks away and upon return, tells us there was an error when booking and there are no rooms available. While we are standing there another couple walks in and checks into the hotel and are given their keys. When we asked for help securing another room elsewhere, they told us we will not find rooms anywhere else as this is a busy weekend, but they can secure us a room at another hotel owned by the same family just twenty minutes away. Due to the time of evening and us being tired we decided to go to their "other" hotel which turned out to be 45 minutes away. Needless to say they were not very apologetic or understanding to the fact that they created this situation and it was a huge inconvenience to us as the other hotel was not even in the direction we were traveling. I would not recommend booking with this hotel.

I returned to Hotel Emporda in Figueras, this easy to find hotel with an excellent restaurant and a list of excellent wines. Try some of the local wines from Marti Fabri or the producers in Capmany, just up the road. Excellent service. A very convenient stop for an overnight stay going north to France from Spain. The chef of this restaurant provided take away meals for Salvador Dali in the last years of his life.

Such a fab hotel, clean, bright, comfortable (the bed was as comfy as my own!!) and everywhere a little extra touch to raise it above other 4 stars. Really well furnished and bathroom had bidet and jacuzzi bath. Linen was of a really high quality.

We did get an upgrade when we booked so whoo-hoo...!!!

Only downside was that it is on the outskirts of town (but to put this in perspective, the town is only around two miles across...). This meant a 1/2 mile walk from the square in the evening, which was actually not so bad at all, but we did have to take cabs from the train station on arrival and departure.
