“Some issues need addressed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Just back from a week at this hotel. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay made all the better by good weather. The hotel is a bit isolated and has some steep inclines,I would not therefore recommend this hotel to anyone with mobility problems.
We arrived by minibus and the reception was a bit slow, taking approx. 15 mins per room allocation. Being at the end of the queue when a coach load arrived would be frustrating. The reception staff were, however, charming and very welcoming. (Note - rooms not generally available until 3pm).

Room. Very clean and tidy and kept that way throughout our stay; the ladies who clean the rooms are a major asset to the hotel.. (Hotel management take note).

Restaurants. Food is a very subjective item to assess as we all have different tastes. The hotel caters very well indeed with the choice and quality of food being very high. Equally the rooms and the staff were very good indeed. We visited 3 of the speciality restaurants during the week.
Of the speciality restaurants, the Canarian one was the best.

There are 2 major issues that the hotel needs to address if it is to get my repeat business. Firstly, there is supposed to be an adults only pool - oh no there isn't1 This could be policed quite easily by putting up some signs. Secondly the sun beds. When you look out from your balcony at 7.30 am and see over 50% of beds with towels on them, you know there's a problem. We sat several days at the pool when the beds on either side were unused for hours. Note: it's not the Germans, it's the Brits!!!

So, would we go back? Certainly not during school holidays and only if we hear that the issues raised have been addressed. Overall the hotel was good, just the little niggles that spoil things, especially when they could be sorted very easily if the hotel enforced their policies.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a pool or sea view on a high floor.

Dear Tripadvisor user,

Thank you for the feedback of your recent holidays to Bahia Principe Tenerife hotel.

We are very glad to hear that you were very happy with the service in the room and the themed restaurants.

We would like to inform you that no swimming-pool in the resort is for the exclusive use of adults. However, some swimming-pools are more frequented by children than others.

As regards the sunbeds, some guests prefer to get up early in order to get a specific place by the swimming-pool, but we have plenty of them available.

It would be a pleasure to see you again in Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts.

Best Regards,

I wish I was still in Bahia Principe Tenerife! We returned at the beginning of October after two fantastic weeks. This was our ninth visit to BP, although only our second to the Tenerife. We find that we prefer this hotel and it seems a little more relaxed and less frantic.
Our flight was late leaving Birmingham, as three passengers were missing. We left without them in the end. Why bother booking if you're going to miss your flight?
Our arrival in Tenerife, courtesy of Monarch/Cosmos, was very chaotic. Four flights arrived at the same time and there was only one Cosmos rep to organise onward transport for crowds of short-tempered holidaymakers. Once allocated a seat, we sat and waited an age for the last few stragglers to put in an appearance.
We arrived at the hotel at about 9.15pm and were allocated a room and then sent to the restaurant. Our luggage went to our room, while we ate Dinner.
We had been upgraded to a Junior suite, but it was on a lower floor, with no sea view as we had requested by email. Reception were VERY helpful and re-located us the following day. The very nice reception staff could not understand that we were happy to have a standard room on a higher floor instead of the Junior suite! Throughout our two weeks they kept asking if we were happy!
We had a problem with the air con. Reported it- fixed straight away.
If I hadn't seen it for myself I would not have believed that crazy people would sit on sun beds reading their Kindles by flashlight to "sit in their own special space" at 5am!!! Bonkers! We never had any problem finding beds or brollies even at 9 or 10am.
Jesus made us very welcome at breakfast on our first morning (and every morning when he was on duty). All food was great and the buffet offers great choice. Try the Duck in Orange sauce - it's fabulous!
We ate in the Asian, Mexican and Spanish restaurants. All are very good. The Asian and the Mexican are our favourites.
Entertainment was as always - you either love it or hate it. We usually spend evenings down in the Costa Adeje, as we have friends staying there. Not enough seats, but we do manage to find what we need. We think that tables and seats, rather than rows of chairs, would be better in the Plaza. It's not easy to look after your drink when there is only the floor to put it on!
If people read the many reviews of these hotels on Trip Advisor, they would know that gentlemen MUST wear trousers for the evening meals! I do agree that some of the lady's shorts are way too short for the evening and should also be banned!
We are looking forward to our next visit in May 2014, when we will receive our gold bands. We will also be returning in September. Both holidays are already booked.

Room Tip: Majority of rooms in the Tenerife face the pool and the sea. The higher the room the better the view...

This was our second visit to Bahia Principe, having previously stayed at the sister hotel Costa Adeje. We preferred the Tenerife as most of facilities (tennis, football, mini-golf) were here and rooms were more spacious.

Food in main buffet restaurant was excellent and we also liked the Italian, Mexican and Spanish (book in advance by email to save queuing when you are there). Particularly enjoyed breakfast and lunch on the terrace enjoying views to La Gomera.

Very relaxing location but a trip here will broaden the waistline more than broaden the mind. There isn't much to do around the hotel but I'd recommend walking to El Puertito - tiny village with a beach and bar about 20 minutes downhill from the hotel. From here we walked to La Caletta - we were told it should take 30 minutes but we must have gone different route as it took twice as long. Not sure I'd recommend this as there are lots of different paths up and down coves and at one point it was quite steep and not very firm under foot.

Pool scene is great for families and although we were during mid-term break didn't have problem getting sunbeds.

Overall this hotel offers superb value for money, wonderful food and amazing customer service.

Absolutely amazing hotel and resort. I went here last September with my girlfriend and loved it so much I went with my two sons for the week on 7th October , and we all had an absolute blast ! The pool activities were great fun , the food was lovely, and the help-yourself policy with the drinks was great. One niggle though, having to pay (24 euro's) for the wifi seems somewhat ridiculous in this day and age when everyone almost relies on it for phones etc and have never had to pay for it at any other hotel I have stayed at either for work or pleasure ! The cost of the hotel should surely include free wifi as it isn't a cheap hotel and as we all know , wifi is wifi so why try to extort more cash from already high paying loyal customers. (moan over )
The pools are great , there are quiet areas and fun/noisy areas. The atmosphere and guests all mix very well and always something to do or nothing to do if you prefer. The beer (San Miguel) is on tap so you just help yourself and wine is ready for you by the bottle. The restaurants are very clean and relaxing.
Myself ,my girlfriend and our four young ones fully intend to go back next July/August for a fortnight and I truly cannot wait ! Just need to find the best price now ;)

My husband and I are well travelled and have stayed in many all inclusive resorts all over the world, this however was our first experience of a European all inclusive so our expectations weren't incredibly high, as we paid half what we usually would for a 10 day holiday but we were most impressed!

We didn't get off to a great start on arrival at the hotel as when we checked in at 1.30pm we were told we would have to wait till 3pm to check into our room, I was disappointed as we had our 18 month old son with us who and he was very tried as we had been travelling since 4am. I kindly asked the lady if there was any chance we could get our room soon and she just responded in a rude tone '3pm'!
Then my husband was told that men have to wear long trousers at dinner, this was a big problem as he only had one pair which he had worn on the plane! As a result every night he had to wear his trousers to dinner and then change into shorts in the toilet! This would not have been a problem if we had known before so this is more a criticism of Thomas Cook for not making it clearer in the booking!

A side from these problems we had a fantastic holiday! The hotel was so clean I never once saw any area of the hotel that wasn't spotless!
The food was also fantastic, there was a great choice at the buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We also ate in the italian, Mexican and Spanish restaurants and these were all lovely and had fantastic choice!
The all inclusive drinks were also good. You could either help yourself to a wide variety of alcoholic and soft drinks or be served at the bar.
This hotel was perfect for us as they catered very well for children but still felt very civilised!
My husband and I enjoyed it so much were planning to go back next year!
If u want a reasonably priced all inclusive holiday then this is the place to come as it's worth every penny we spent.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel, it's our fifth time at this hotel and I really do think it was my best stay yet. The rooms are all suites and spacious with nice balcony, ask for a pool view and you will get the sun most of the day. The food is excellent, you have the choice of 5 different restaurants as well as the main buffet restaurant which is excellent, all the other restaurant are superb too. The drinks are mostly self service which includes spirts, wine and sparkling wine. The pool can get busy but we never had a problem getting a sunbed like some reviews have stated, maybe it was the time of year, the entertainment was ok, some nights better than others, and there is a sports bar in the square were you can see any football game you like, and xfactor, but you do have to pay for drinks in there but it's only 3 euros for a pint of peroni. Another thing is that men have to wear long trousers at dinner, this is the only thing I didn't like about the hotel, but it wouldn't stop me going back, you can use all the facilities of the sister hotel except the buffet restaurant, you have to keep to your own hotel for this. I would defo recommend this hotel and will be returning for a sixth time in the near future.

I am writing this review while sitting in the very warm sun using as much of my purchased wifi as possible. Came to the resort 2 years ago but stayed in the Costa Adele Bahia. I said I wouldn't return to the same hotel but was drawn to the cost and wanted some sun. As before the hotel is very clean everywhere and we found most of the staff to be friendly. The food is lovely with some thing for everyone. We tried the Asian restaurant and the Italian . Of the two the Asian was better with both food and atmosphere, loved every mouthful of the plentiful food. The restaurants are all nicely laid and for evening dinner with very smart staff. The entertainment was good but it would be nice to see the acts around small tables rather than in rows like a cinema. We saw the four male singers and an eighties group. The bar area is nice with also a choice of areas in both hotels. Any drink could be had in copious amounts if needed and looking at some people pouring this was very much the case. The rooms were a good size and clean. The bed was very comfortable and appeared to have a memory foam mattress but I may be wrong . I agree with some previous comments the decor and bedding is dated and could do with a good sort out. As a couple we looked for areas without screaming children however the hotel have disregarded the interest of adults in preference to a child friendly playground. There is NO area in the whole resort which caters for those wishing to read quietly and have an uninterrupted swim . I counted 4 small dingies, 2 inflatable whales, 3 inflatable rings and 20 screaming children in the 'adult' area of the pool with a very bored lifeguard who quite frankly couldn't be bothered. I found this very disappointing. Although I am not against any children having fun when you pay to go away there should be choices. So if you are planning a quiet holiday as a couple I would NOT recommend this hotel.
One more thing I wanted to photograph the sun coming up behind the mountain so got up to go the the infinity pool area at 7am only to find 7 people sitting on their sunbeds in the dark tying all things of things around their umbrella and chairs to save for the day. By 7.20 again just when the day was breaking nearly all the beds had gone . I took my photos and walked back to this area at 9am and There was not one lounger in the whole resort available. I asked for the pool man to find a chair but he never came back. The 'no booking sun chair with towel' rule is a joke . So if anyone wants to take photos take a towel and old magazine for the lounger, scarf for the umbrella and joking sun oil for authenticity of needing the bed when it's dark and the sun hasn't even come out.
Bahia do what you say on the notices and adverts. You have a lovely hotel but get some rules adhered to!

We are very glad that you are enjoying our well maintained facilities and various restaurants.

As regards the sunbeds, we remove all the towels from unattended sunbeds before 8 am, but we have to respect those guests who are sitting there because they want to get that particular place.
