My friend and I were initially given a room on the ground floor at the front/side of the hotel overlooking a car park and the concrete sides of the built up road that runs along the the side and front of the hotel. The room was dull, had no sunlight in at any time of the day so it had a cold feeling about it. The 'open air' corridor that you pass through to get to these rooms don't help the feeling of isolation and 'being out in the cold'. Looking around at the locations of other rooms overlooking the sea/pool area makes you feel very much the poor relation and it feels rather unfair that you are paying the same price as someone with a lovely panoramic view from their room, and will be getting lots of sunshine so it will be light and bright. Despite complaining immediately, it took four days to be given an alternative room, which is totally unacceptable when dozens of people are vacating rooms on a daily basis. All you ever hear is 'hotel is full, hotel is full'. So, what, rooms are still being vacated on a daily basis. When we were given an alternative room, it was on floor 2, which has a roof terrace in front of the balcony, so you have a restricted outlook /view, but this was still 100 times better than the 1st room as it was light and bright, so we accepted it as we had already had 4 unsettled days waiting for a room change. But, once we had moved into a pool view/ sea view room it was like being on a different holiday. Had we had a decent room from day 1 this would have been a wonderful place to holiday. The hotel and surrounding areas are very clean and tidy. The food is excellent, and we didn't even mind having a choice of time for our evening meal of either 1800 or 2000, which some people complained about. The tables are very close together in the restaurant so it is more pleasant if you can converse with your neighbours, we couldn't as they were German but we did a lot of smiling and managed the odd German word or two to make an effort, so all was well there. The hotel entertainment is pretty boring but it was ok just to have somewhere to sit and have a drink after the evening meal. But, then we discovered Tiggy's bar, just over the road from the hotel. The bar is owned/run by a couple from Liverpool and they are very welcoming. The chap plays guitar and sings and they had some fabulous acts on in their small bar. It is frequented by ex-pats and long stay Brits who are regulars that holiday every year and so they know each other and are very friendly to us short trip holiday makers. So, if you like a bit of conversation, a bit of a laugh and a good sing along and jig about in your seat (even dance about for those brave enough) then head for Tiggys and you will have a good night. The resort is lovely, there is enough there to stroll around. If you want more life then you can seek that out. I would definately go to this resort and hotel again but I would have to somehow try and ensure that a decent room was given from the beginning. I personally think that the side rooms overlooking the road & car park should be a lesser charge as there is just no comparison to the outlook. Everyone we met who started off in one of these rooms asked to be moved so it has to be an ongoing problem for the hotel and the tour operator and it is a problem that could be resolved if these rooms were sold more cheaply or if they were more upfront about them in the first place. I think you need to be particularly careful about being given one of these side/back rooms if you are a lone traveller or single people (rather than a couple) such as my friend and I (2 females) but once that was all sorted we had a really good holiday with great weather.
