“Great resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2010

We stayed a week at Regency Club thru a timeshare swap. Our appartment was one of just three which had the bedroom at the back without windows. This was because the appartment was built into the side of a hill, and had only one side 'open'. This was not ideal, to be honest, but the vast majority of appartments have windows as one would expect. On the plus side, the lack of natural ventilation meant that we had air conditioning built-in. We also had an ensuite sauna and jacuzzi.

The crime problem mentioned by others seems to have been addressed to some extent in that there is a bar that can be put across the patio doors at night so that the doors cannot be forced open. There are safes in every room.

Whereas some reviwers seem dissatisfied with the staff we found them without exception to be excellent. During the day there was an 'entertainer' who organised activities. There was a staff member whose role was to introduce us to the complex and tell us about the area. I would compliment the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

The location is within waliking distance of the beach, and even nearer to a big supermarket. There is a free bus laid on which goes to a few locations nearby.

The pool was the heart of the resort and there were plenty of sunbeds. There was a good programme of entertainment every night for those who wanted it.

In summary we had an extremely enjoyable week.

Like most always nervous of some of the negative reviews but can say that Regaency Club was a great place to stay. I would regard the place as a good 3* hotel. The hotel is very clean, friendly and generally quiet with no issues of early morning towel placing on the beds etc etc.

Staff always friendly and really tried to get everyone involved in the on-site activities. The evening entertainment was typical of a 3* hotel - the usual Flamenco night, 'club' singers etc but all pleasing to the ear. We normally listened to the music from our balacony but certainly once indoors the music couldn't be heard.

Yes, there is no air-conditioning - but where does it say in the brochures that air-con exists !? The ceiling fans do work to an extent but would imagine it would be hot in high summer. Apartment very clean - and cleaned approx 3 times during our 1 week stay. Beds are firm but good for my bad back; patio area clean tidy with nice views.

Yes, they have concerns over security especially the ground-floor apartments. However, you are encouraged to use the in-room safe (€15 a week) and all patio doors have a secure bolt - please use it.

The hotel is on quite a slope, took a gentle 20 min stroll down-hill to reach beach and night-life, but not an arduous walk, if you don't want to face the up hill return taxi was approx €3. Very large supermarket is approx 5 min walk away (yes down-hill!).

Hotel restaurant was reasonable with good selection all reasonably priced, also lots of meal offers down at the beach area - €8 - €12 for 3 courses.

As on RCI exchange - we visited the sister resort Regency Country Club, spent a couple of hours doing the usual sales pitch. However, it was our choice, there was no pressure to visit but we got more out of the trip than Steve the salesman - free Breakfast (x4); spent all day at the resort with free shuttle return and a free evening meal later in the week. Certainly it was no pressurised sales pitch.

The only slight down-side, got duped by airport taxi driver who quoted €32 for trip to hotel - he had a printed card. His meter showed €19 until he conveniently switched it off 500 metres from the hotel!. Return cost was €24 which was on the meter - always ensure you pay meter costs.

I can recommend the hotel if you want a place which is quieter than most but clean and friendly, dont let the hill-side location put you off - its easy going downhill and taxi's are cheap coming back if needed. They also have a free shuttle bus which moves around various locations during the day.

Hope this helps...

We have been owners at the Regency Clun for some years and have now stayed for four years on the trot. The quality and friendliness of the staff never changes. It is a delightful place to spend a week or two, to unwind and rechage ones batteries. I would have no hesitation in recommending to friends and family.

The place was clean, the staff very friendly, location quiet but a bit out of the way. the worst part of the stay was the beds were so unbelievably hard, and it lacked air conditioning, we could not get cooled off only in the pool.
Service was a bit slow but the food very good in the restaurant.
Somefacilities Spa and Gym were being refurbed and not in use, a bit bad for the main season.
I love Tenerife but would give the Regency a miss as there are far better timeshare places to stay.
In general we had a enjoyable stay met some nice people and the kids loved the pool.

My husband and I have stayed in many time shares and this would be the worst. We are on our third day and are waiting for the next thing to go wrong. We have had to have maintenance to fix the safe which would not workd, fix the toilet which would not stop flushing (semi-fixed), a glass jug was broken and we didn't want to pay for that, a bulb was out in the reading lamp, we are in a studio suite and the bed is a sofa sleeper but in two parts one only 8 inches off the floor (not easy for someone who is not young), we can only have one shower at a time (the hot water is set at 40 degrees!) the entertainment goes on until nearly midnight our we have to have our door closed fully and even then we cannot sleep until it finishes! Just not the kind of holidya we are used to. The resrot is lovely other than all this and the staff very helpful but I like to be able to shower and sleep when I want to and not have to perform some gymnastics to get up off my bed.

Nice apartment with everything you need
resort with a lost ot options for activities or just enjoying the sun

Restaurant: had 3 meals there quality just ok - and waited a while - I would recomend to eat somewhere else, the area has a lot of very good restaurants.

It is a good walk up-hill to the resort, recomend free resort bus or fair priced taxis

I all a very good resort

We stayed for a week in a 2 bed appt with kitchen lounge and terrace situated on the first floor - 3 adults and 2 children. Good size appartment, large dining table on terrace with both sea and pool views. Only downside was no air-conditioning, just fans, which was sticky at night. Complex provides reasonably priced restaurant and served good food - example: entrecote steak (about 8 oz) choice of sauces, chips and veg cost 8.9 Euros. Local Draught Beer was 2 Euros per pint - coke etc 1 Euro. Entertainment each night. Good facilities for children - pools, playground, kids club etc. International clientelle. If you have a car, parking is tricky but we managed to park ok within a few minutes walk each time. If you walk to the coast to swim or eat, it is a bit of a treck coming back uphill. Very easy access to autostrada for sightseeing by car. A good time was had by all. Most important - very tatsy Danish Bakery on site! Fresh bread and croissants every day except Sunday.
