TENERIFE. I was there, together with my wife Mirela and our doughter, Denisa. We went there for the New Years Eve, 2008-2009 through First Choice Marketing Romania, and we were staying at Regency Club, Costa Adeje, Tenerife.
First, about TENERIFE
Shortly... GORGEOUS. I have not seen as many places as other people, but thats the impression it made on me. Friendly, helping people, fantastic sightseing... in my oppinion, everyone should see Tenerife, at least once in his lifetime.
Now, about REGENCY
Well, THEY ARE NOT Tenerife. A bunch of thiefs (or covering oher thiefs, I dont know), thick skinned check-in clerks, liers. Why? Well, I'll tell you here...
We arrived at Regency, Costa Adeje. A representative of Fist Choice Marketing waited for us, he helped us with the check in procedures, everyone was smiling, friendly wellcome, all was great. I was a little cold, so my wife and doughter went for a swim at the local pool. We went out then for some sight-seeing, shopping, and so on. They went
to bed after that, I went to bed later: I took some time to admire the place, had a beer in the room's terrace...
I woke up early in the morning and I went to se the time (I have set up my mobile to the local time)... the charger was there, but no phone...? As I searched for the phone, I realised that the camcorder was missing, the camera, my PDA, some luggage... the terrace door was widely open...
W E W E R E R O B B E D ! ! !
Imagine, we were robbed while being in the room !!!
I ran to the check in counter to tell them about the situation, and they took the rap on me that why I was sleeping with the terrace door open. I explained them that I closed the door personally... they gave me the numbers for the VISA, MasterCard cancellation, The Romanian embassy in Madrid and a hotline number (denunciades) for lodgeing the complain to the police... Ok. I went back to the room, spent hours on the phone, all was set. Then it hit us: we were on our first day and we had no money... no money at all...
I remembered that the day before we had to leave 200EUR at the check-in... back to the receptionist and ask them for the money. I explained her nicely that we were robbed in THEIR room, so it's only natural that they either give me back my money, or provide us food.
The answer? "It's not our problem, I cannot give you back your money and we cannot feed you for free." I thought the sky fell on my head. They have my money, and my daughter should be hungry? Hell no... I told her (nicely, again) that if SHE cannot give me back MY money, then she should call the manager and discuss the matter with her. "No, I will not disturb the manager on saturday, you should wait before monday and talk with her." This is the moment when I snapped. I called her thick skinned, thief, and so on, of course as loud as I could, so everyone will here about my situation. Finally, ONLY after a long and loud argument, she took her time and called the manager. She (of course) told the receptionist to give me my money.
Ok... we went to the police station, we eat something out and then... back to the hotel.
"I would like an other room", I said.
"No, we will repair your door."
My wife was going mad... I said "Ok, if they make a proper repairing job, no problem".
Well, they sent some craftsmen, they did their best for allmost one hour... no can do. The door must be replaced.
As I stood there, I started to pay attention to the details: other doors were also repaired before, no two doors had the same handle. Ok, so I'm not the only one...
I call the receptionist again and tell her that the door cannot be repaired, so we need another room. She give me a room... well, let's just say that the one I was robbed in was "ultra central" compared to this one. Considering the total lack of security, I refuse and ask for another room. She says to me that they don't have any other free room, I started to argue with her, I told her that she should discuss the matter with the manager, she said that "we don't have manager, we have a director", again a loud argument... Only when I wrote down her name and threaten HER with a lawsuite she magically remembered that they have another free room. Ok, we went to the other room.
After that, SHORTLY:
- the receptionist "misplaced" my papers that was faxed from the Romanian Embassy. Only after I made her lier and incompetent she "remembered" that indeed, my documents were there.
- the manager (director or whatever) REFUSED to have a conversation with me. When I went to talk with her, she was in her office, I asked to talk WITH HER but she sent a representative... how nice...
- they even had the nerve to charge me for the phones made... I didn't paid them anything for the phones made to correct THEIR lack of security.
Shortly, it was THE WORST PLACE that I ever went to. By far. The manager and receptionists there... THE LOWEST EVER.
If you consider going to Tenerife, GO. But do not step in the Regency... that's my personal recommandation.
