“Very Tired!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

We went to the Paradise Club last week on one of the promotional holidays. I had actually stayed at the Paradise Club 20 years ago when I swapped my Timeshare and at that time it was a very nice resort, so I knew where I was going and what the standard had been at that time. The brochure that was sent made the apartments look just as nice as I remembered and therefore was quite looking forward to going back. We arrived on the Friday evening and check in was quite quick. We were taken to our apartment and immediately hit by this stale smell of cooking and looking round we knew that there was no way we wanted to stay. The apartments were to be fair clean, but the furniture was shabby and tired and the bed linen looked like it was the same as had been there when I visited 20 years ago. We went back to reception and asked if they had a better apartment and they said they only had one left and they would show it to us. It was only marginally better than the previous one, but as it was late we decided we would accept it for the time being. Again it was tired, and it was cold and we kept our jackets on the whole evening. The apartment also had a smell of cooking. We decided this was not for us, and I got out my IPad to look for alternative accommodation. Another problem you only get internet around the pool area. After much searching we managed to find a hotel that could take us the next day. I do admit that I have high standards but I know if I was selling something I would be trying to impress my customer and give them the best accommodation available - it looked nothing like the brochure. We did go on to have a lovely holiday in Costa Adeje - but I have to say that the Paradise Club is definitely not my idea of "Paradise".

I was disappointed to see that your comments were so at odds with those posted by many of our guests who enjoy their accommodation at our family friendly resort. We set high standards for cleanliness and we do have an ongoing refurbishment programme. We welcome feedback from our guests as it helps us to maintain our standards. We are currently trialling various options to extend our internet footprint and will introduce it here and to our two sister resorts on Tenerife. We wish you well on your future holidays.

We have just returned from a promotional week in the club last costa Paradise resort. Our apartment was excellent and even had a washing machine, which was certainly handy hardly any washing to do now we are home. The complex is very good, spotlessly clean and tidy, we could not fault this place at all. Unfortunately the meeting with the reps which you have to attend just goes on too long, they just try to wear you down but for us it had the opposite effect and really put us off. It could have be done so much quicker, we were told that it would take about 3 hours but in reality it was more like 6 hours and if we had bought into the concept it would have taken even longer. We kept saying "let's get to the point" and we were told "we are getting there" but a lot of it seemed to go over and over the same things. Overall a lovely holiday but they need to sort out their selling and not bore people to death. If you get the chance to stay here you will not be disappointed. This place is on a steep hill so if you are not fit you will need a car or used true taxis.

Room Tip: You are not given the choice but all rooms are good

We have owned a week at Paradise Club for the past 14 years and go there every 2 years. The accommodation is always very good and the pool area in kept clean and tidy. The views from our apartment are amazing - out over to la Gomera. We would highly recommend it to everyone - just don't accept the 'free' breakfast or lunch, it will turn into a wasted day. Also a taxi up 'cardiac hill' is practically a must!!!!

First of all, the apartments are of 1st class quality, we travelled with my sister and her husband, we had an en suite bedroom, and they had twin bed room with separate bathroom. All was kept neat and tidy by maids .Balcony was immense and very roomy with large table and 4 sunbeds. Room caught bit of noise every night, as we were at top of flight of stairs.
The restaurants were ok, but food not of best quality. However that being said location, was poor, it's at the top of "VERY Steep hills" you almost have to use taxis to get back at night or even later in day.
BEWARE of the so called presentation if on a £199 break, with having to attend said presentation!!!! Being aware as we were, nothing really prepares you for the length of time this takes. Following reviews from TA before and our knowledge of CLC in the past at costa del sol, we knew the quality of rooms etc were vg, we knew we were never going to buy the points or club membership, but despite the very good free breakfast, and being polite to our host Jordan, constantly dropped hints to him we were not really interested, however despite this insisted in going through every little detail, but mostly on the insistence of his boss Alan. Eventually tried to hurry him to the actual costs, after 4 hours, the his boss came back with the emotional blackmail of Jordan not getting paid unless we went with him to the sister resort of Monterey!!!!! Eventually agreed to go with Jordan, so he could get his "Bonus" "as the Board of Directors were looking on".Alan's words not Jordans If this was in UK they would be torn apart for misrepresentation and misselling.
Even though we advised them early enough it still took 5 1/2 hours, but as we spoke to some other people later, others were there 8 hours.
I looked and learned on TA reviews beforehand but NOTHING prepares you for this, and although we had a good holiday, it was a wasted day

Room Tip: Anything above ground floor, but not above the bars or reception

I was glad to see that you enjoyed your accommodation during your stay with us. Our resort does enjoy a hilltop location, which is clear from our website, but our guests find that taxis are both plentiful and very reasonably priced if the walk proves too testing. The benefit is that we are within easy reach of the livelier areas while offering a quieter location, with fantastic views. Our extremely well priced promotional holidays offer guests the opportunity to enjoy what we have to offer and to find out more about holidaying around the world with us. It's an important investment in holidays for the family and it would be wrong to try and compress the information needed to make a decision into too short a time. There are different holiday options and we aim to explore these in an enjoyable and informative way and many guests do find the presentations interesting and want to find out more. But we do appreciate that our way of holidaying is not for everyone, and of course no-one is obliged to purchase or join anything.

Firstly, let me say that I am NOT a member of CLC and this is a totally unbiased review. My wife's parents are members and they very kindly let us use their points when they have any left over from the previous year. As stated, this was our second visit to Paradise and we loved it just as much as the first time. The apartments, whilst some are a bit dated, are very nice, impeccably clean and have everything you would need for a comfortable self catering break. The balconies are huge and we had two sunbeds, a table and four chairs and there was still plenty of room to spare. Unfortunately we were allocated a ground floor apartment with views of the gardens and this caused a couple of small issues - we never got the sun all day until just before dusk so it was pretty cold at night and the water pressure from the taps / shower was nothing more than a trickle (not major issues, we certainly made do).
The staff at Paradise are all extremely hardworking and friendly and cannot do enough for you, you only have to ask. Our apartment was only cleaned once during our week's stay but the maid spent nearly 50 mins doing it and left it spotless! We did receive fresh towels and toilet rolls as well as empty the bins a further couple of times.
The pool area is lovely and spacious and we did manage to find sunbeds when we wanted them, however as another reviewer has stated there are a number of guests who have taken to the past-time of reserving sunbeds and then disappearing for the majority of the day, leaving late arrivals no chance of getting one. My major issue with the pool area is that non-smokers have taken to occupying the reserved smoking area to check their emails etc. and when a smoker enters the area to light-up, they are given dirty looks, followed by lots of fake coughing and wheezing. This area is MEANT for smokers - the ashtrays on the tables give it away!! Sit in the restaurants if you don't want to inhale other people's smoke.
Paradise is set up a steep hill, there's no getting away from that fact. If you can walk reasonably well, then the walk down to the beach / harbour areas should take no longer than 20 - 30 mins, a nice brisk walk in my opinion. Coming back is a different story - just looking back up the hill is enough to scare the healthiest of sherpas. You can grab a taxi from the roundabout next to the big Iberostar hotel and it costs approx. 4-5 Euros back to reception at Paradise - not bad in my opinion. We will definately be back soon!

Room Tip: Request a high-floor room when you book for the spectacular views.

We have recently become members of CLC, this is our first break as members out of the UK. We didn't get our first choice but the customer relations in Malaga did say that Paradise would suit us better as we had our teenage daughter with us. They were right, there were others there her own age, she was happy so were we. We had a lovely week and all came back home refreshed and with colour! We had a presentation which went on longer than expected, we were expecting an update on our membership not another sales talk! We stated right at the beginning we were not in a position to spend anymore money, the team were not overly pushy (thankfully) and respected our decision.
The Team Marina girls work very hard.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback. It is always good to hear from our members, both new and old, and I was pleased to see that your teenage daughter enjoyed herself and you all went home with a tan! Please be assured that while our sales team wants to keep you up to date with holiday options they aim to do so in a relaxed, informative way which respects your views on the day. Don’t hesitate to contact member services for guidance on your future holidays – this is an experienced team very happy to help you make the most of your membership and I am glad that on your first trip abroad with us you found their advice helpful.
