Pleasant hotel with very good food and good entertainment, BUT oh so noisy.
If you live next to a motorway or a major road then you will probably be ok, but if you live in a normal residential area then your stay will be sleepless.
Only the Spanish could build a new road with cobblestones which exacerbate the noise of passing traffic, and that traffic goes on all night. Add to that the strategic placing of a manhole cover, which is loose, so that nearly every vehicle passing bounces over it. Had it been dead central most vehicles would pass over it without the wheels coming into contact.
If you can guarantee a room at the rear of the hotel then all would be fine, but the rooms overlooking the main road are appalling. We tried to move but were told that the hotel was full.

We have just returned from the Iberostar Torviscas Playa, after booking it based on other reviews on TripAdvisor. The hotel is definitely worth the positive reviews and its high rating as it was perfect for a quality and relaxing break. We usually go self catering but decided to spend a little more on a decent hotel with a decent pool for once and were not disappointed. Everything is so clean and the staff were efficient and friendly. The room was not the most modern looking but very clean and with everything that you would need, (including a little fridge which was a bonus). The pool was great, really big and sun loungers and umbrellas were always available. We went B&B and the breakfast was superb with a huge range of choice. We didn't eat in the hotel at night but if the breakfast was anything to go by I imagine this would have been a good standard.
The beach was at the bottom of the hotel along with a wide choice of restaurants for day or evening meals. All in all it was a lovely, relaxing break and the hotel made it for us.
Don't book any airport transfers with Sky Transfers though as they weren't expecting us when we arrived in Tenerife and then didn't collect us from the hotel at the end due to poor organising on their side - fortunately the hotel staff were really helpful and sorted the problem out for us.

Another enjoyable stay at this hotel. The food quality is good with decent rooms that have all you need, The staff in particular are very nice and professional. Great value for money.

This was our second stay at this hotel (first stay was interrupted by an impromtu period of 11 days in hosptial - nothing to do with hotel).
This hotel is brilliant for families - most people have returned year after year. We stay around the pool most days and the kids make lots of friends. The in hotel entertainment is very good during the day (we go out at night). You can get to the beach from the bottom of the hotel so don't have to walk round. Shopping and bars are a short distance away (would reommend First and Last - English bar down on the front).
It was quieter when we went this year (think due to recession) but a hotel like this offers geat value for money at half board. The food is excellent and you can have omlettes cooked to order in a morning and there are always signature dishes being cooked on an evening, meats, fish, salads, pasta, vegetarian - something of everything.
The daytime entertainment is excellent, the reps are great with everyone and it helps the day pass if you don't want to sit in the sun all time.
We had a room at the front of the hotel which doesn't give a sea view, but it was still very nice. Our room was slightly bigger because it was on the bend of the hotel where the building stopped and started again - so we got more space (purely by chance). We had a slow running tap in the bath and reported it; it was fixed in ten minutes. The rooms have carpet which is nice as many hotels have just tiled floors. When we arrived someone came and gave us free drinks and helped with the bags.
Sun beds open at 08:00 when somone opens the doors downstairs, but it wasn't busy all day and you could get beds at any time (future years may be busier though). The weather is extremely hot in August and you have be prepared for this; ok for a relaxing holiday, but possibly too hot to trail about a lot.
All in all this was a fantastic family holiday in a great location. I've met people that have stayed here before and also loved it and then stayed somewhere else and wished they'd booked the Torviscas Playa again.
