The hotel is not a 4 star in my view. Value wise it is OK.
The food was fine with plenty choice for main meals. Salads could have been better.
Drink prices high in comparison to the local area (loads of 1euro pints and 6euro sangrias). If you book go for the sea view as lots of the rooms (including mine) have zero view.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in this hotel for two weeks - last week in June, first week in July and we had a fab holiday and would definitely stay in this hotel again!
We had no problems checking in, went up to our room to find the air conditioning wasn't working. We popped to reception and were told that a maintenance guy would be up straight away....he was about 10 minutes but had gone to another room in error. He realised that the sensor on the balcony door had fallen and just replaced it there and then - 2 second job! Granted the air conditioning in the room isn't ice cold but if you left the card in the wall during the day it was a nice temperature when you got in after a day sunning yourself!
The rooms were basic...but had everything you would expect from a hotel room! Plush rooms are nice but for the amount of time you spend in them I think they are very over-rated!
The pool area was lovely - 2 nice sized pools which are 1.40m deep (noted on the side of the pool!!!) - I'm 5ft 4" and I could stand up in both.
We did struggle to get sunbeds in our second week as the hotel seemed to have an influx of new guests (kids breaking up I suppose!) but we still got beds everyday!! We should have just got up a bit earlier if we had an issue!
The hotel supplies pool towels if you pay a €10 refundable deposit - wish we had known this earlier as 2 beach towels can take up a lot of room in your case!!
The food was brill....lots of choice! What people need to realise is you are in a foreign country - they don't tend to cook things the british way! They aren't just catering for British people - there were French, Geman, Russian and more staying in the hotel!
I was happy to try new things each day!
As we were there for 2 weeks we knew the food would get repetative as we have stayed HB and All Inc before so we knew we wanted to venture out and try some restaurants.
If you turn right out of the front of the hotel and continue down the road and follow if round the bend you come to some bars/restaurants - there is a fab Gordon Ramsay restaurant! The food is fantastic and if you're thinking it must be pricey then you'd be wrong! We picked from a selected menu and had 3 course for €6.50! Bargain! The presentation was brilliant, service brilliant and quality of food was amazing!!!
There were plenty of restaurants down by the beach that offered 3 course meals for around €7 and most bars offered a pint of local beer for €1.50.
We tended to go out for drinks as the hotel prices were quite high in comparison but you find that in British hotels!!! We went into Las Americas a few nights which took about 20 minutes to walk to along the promenade but we found it more expensive there than the bars closer to the hotel!
The Motown Diner down by the beach - right by the mini golf was a right laugh and very friendly! We drank there most nights after dinner! It was cheap too - especially if you drink local drinks!
We did 3 trips - Loro Parque Premium - fantastic!!! Recommended!!
Siam Park - fab water park - the most amazing wave machine - don't be fooled by the small waves after 20 mins the huge ones come on!!! Very exciting!!!
And Mount Teide - very glad we did it!
This hotel is in a brilliant location - the back gate takes you right down to the beach and bars!
All in all we had a fab holiday and the hotel definitely contributed to us having a great time!!!

We stayed in Iberostar Torviscas Playa from 26th June until 5th July and all I can say is it was a great stay. We had a room with a see view and lovely sunset every evening. Area of the hotel is fantastic and every single person has to find activity which suit them. Whether you just like to relax by the pool and read or prefer active holiday. There is a great animation team with lots of sporty activities and evening fun. Pools are big enough to swim in and water is comfortably warm. There is a lot of sunbeds by the pool, nice pool bar and toilets close by.
Room was o.k. (a bit older) but well equipped and cleaned every day. The food was delicious with wide range of choice. If you're ready to try something else than traditional english fast foods you can taste fishes or salads and fruits. Twice a week they do traditional dishes so you can try also native cuisine. Staff was friendly and ready to help in every way. Remember what you give is what you get so is up to you what your holiday is going to be like.
The position of the hotel is I would say somewhere between Playa de Las Americas full of night life and quieter Costa Adeje with high class romantic five stars hotels with their posh bars and restaurants so you can choose which direction to go every night..
I would highly recommend this hotel and this was our first stay in Iberostar so I was independent observer. Definitely that wasn't our last stay with them.

I travelled to the Torviscas with my Husband and parents. My parents have been to this hotel every year for the past 6-7 years and have always been more than happy. However this years trip couldn't have been more different!
We e mailed 6 weeks before requesting a room on the 6th (top) floor, however on arrival we had been put on floor 1, next to the lifts. Both rooms had obviously been broken into via the balcolny door, which over looked a large flat roof. The air conditioning in both these rooms didn't work (yes we had the cards in!) You could hear it but where was the cold air?? We immediatly requested both rooms to be changed. The staff were rude, unhelpful and said we couldn't move that sday. The hotel was only about 40% full. We were told my parents could move to the 6th floor the following day, but there was nothing for us. After complaining bitterly that we didn't want that room, they said we could move to the 4th floor, again the following day. The next day on inspection of our 'new room', the air con only worked on setting 1, again lots of noise, no cold air! We refused this room and insisted we were put on the 6th floor, what a surprise they immediatly gave us a key to a room on the 6th floor. At this point we were so fed up we took the room, but again the air con was rubbish! You couldn't sleep with the doors open, due to noise from the bars over the road, so didn't get much sleep for the whole holiday. There was a brothel operating opposit the front of the hotel, from the Tatoo palours, as my husband was approached by a tout at 10pm on the way to the supermarket. The pool and its surroundings were very disappointing, especially annoying were some of the other guests inflicting their loud music on everyone.
The entertainmnt team were fantastic, and worked hard throughout our stay. Food OK.
Overall a massive dissapointment. Would we return?? NO WAY!

If, i'd read ECBOldham's review as a benchmark before booking then i'd probably have given this hotel a miss. Thankfully I didn't & had a great time. We travelled from the airport by taxi & this was 25 euros. On arrival the hotel reception staff were very friendly & continued to be so. If you are polite then this is usually what you find, The pools have 1.40 metre signs around the edges!! Both the main pools appear to be heated unlike many other Canarian resorts where the pools appear to be very cold. Their are plenty of sunbeds & parasols & small tables also available. There are toilet facilties next to the main pool & a snack bar next to the smaller & kids pools. Their are pool & ping pong tables, a tennis/football/basketball court as well as 2 sand pits for french boules. The animacion staff are an excellent ,multilingual, friendly team who keep the guests who want to take part very entertained with water polo, darts, shuffleboard etc etc during the day & put on shows, mini discos etc for the kids. I always tend to take part in many activities & it helps to get to know a few other guests if you are a socialiable sort.
The room we had was clean with everything you would expect from a 4star holiday hotel. To keep the room cool you leave a card in the slot just inside the door & this keeps the aircon on. I explained this to a number of guests who said the aircon was useless & all reported back to say how lovely & cool the rooms were. I just thought it would be common sense that if you couldn't hear the aircon then it isn't on. The same rule applies to keep the fridge on!! we had a balcony which overlooked the pools of the adjacent hotel & the mountains which wasn't a bad thing. You could see our pool area too but i wasn't on the balcony as part of a sight seeing trip & if i had been given a sea view then I would have just seen nothing when sat out late at night. A one way street runs up past the hotel but it wasn't that busy, especially late at night. The hotel allow you to use a room for half an hour to shower etc if you have a late flight & to be fair the one we used on the 2nd floor did smell a bit of smoke & the fixtures were different to our room but I don't know if this is just used for this purpose. We had no problems with the lifts & we were on the 5th floor & used them constantly & we never had cause to trip over. The food was about standard for this type of hotel & can get a bit repetative, but this has been pretty much the same whever I've stayed in this type of resort . Their didn't seem to be much in the way of "Kids" food but why not treat your kids to proper food instead of nuggets & burgers, they may thank you for it one day. It seems a British thing to go on holiday abroad & complain about everything did hear one bloke complaining everyday about one thing or another starting with "they don't know how to cook eggs" & "there's not many english channels on the TV". If your that sort of person then stop at home & be miserable there. It will save you a load of money & you can have egg & chips sat in front of the TV watching as many soaps as you like. So if you trip alot & can't see signs then maybe a trip to the opticians is required, If you moan a lot about things abroad not being the same as they are then stay at home, If you want a great holiday, in a nice hotel, with friendly staff, a fantastic animacion team in a good location then give this hotel a whirl. My only warning is that hotel drink prices are expensive especially with the current exchange rate so many people disappear after dinner to the local bars If youre on a tight budget & like a few beers or have coke thirsty teenagers then go out & buy your drinks & put them in your fridge. Don't buy anything from the 2 "24 hour shops" one of which is opposite the hotel, a bottle of coke, fanta etc etc is 2.5 euros compared to 1.50 at the supermarkets up or down from the hotel & charging as near as dammit a quid extra a bottle is ripping people off.
Enjoy your holiday...
