“Well located - nice accommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

One night only stay in November 2013 - very well located and close to amenities and the beach. The room was clean - although one of the beds was a bit lumpy. Nice room overlooking a very attractive pool with colour changing lights - very tranquil and peaceful. I would say this is one of Tenerife's hidden gems - literally walk through a door in a side street and it was like walking into a model village. We have travelled to Tenerife many times and didn't know this place existed. Staff were pleasant, quite a large choice at breakfast and coffee was good. Would consider staying again - recommended :)

We stayed in one of the two bedroom apartments in Lagos de Fanabe, but it was called Regency Beach Club which is RCI owned, (they own 6 in this resort) Beds were incredibly hard and uncomfortable, had two lovely positioned balconies (we were on the 2nd floor) woodwork very shabby, ceiling fans not adequate, Laundry room and cleaning staff rest room at the side of our apartment, therefore was awakened each morning at 0700 with trolleys and shouting! Very hilly and lots of steps, unsociable and rude reception staff! Position in Adeje great, and very near to sea front, Wonderful day time eatery called 'The Pantry' for fresh and wonderfully prepared food!

Room Tip: choose a room upstairs, as the downstairs balconies/gardens were tiny and looked very unwelcoming an...

We stayed at a two bedroom apartment at this resort and i can only say that i was very disappointed. i booked as usual via booking.com and found that the write up given to be more than generous. The apartment was very worn. Paintwork was dismal, furniture literally falling apart (no bottom in two drawers, wardrobe was damp/musty and could not be used) but my biggest issue was the fact that there was NO AIR-CONDITIONING. only a celing fan in the seated area that was less than useless. we had to HIRE fans, HIRE the safe and HIRE the hairdryer. the bathroom had a "sliding door" that did not slide, it kept coming off the runner, no lock and no extractor fan. The pool area was very quiet, clean and loungers were usually available. Location was good, very near the beach, shops and restaurants and supermarket across the street. Very few English speaking and we were told that in fact it is a time share resort and mostly Russian . as for entertainment - 6x6 stage and half an hour shows(literally) not worth staying around for. plus side of area Blue Catcus restaurant and First and Last Pub for a bit of craic. reception staff VERY DIRECT, no time wasted on pleasantrys at any time!!

Room Tip: do not stay in room 1099!! apparently other bigger better rooms available "with air conditionin...

As a family we are visiting this resort for one week, having previously stayed at sunset harbour for one week. What a contrast!!!
On our arrival the reception staff were very obnoxious and unhelpful, however we gained the cards to the room (eventually). We made our way to the room to be greater by a strong smell of cigarettes outside the front door. This was later found to be our next door neighbours who must chain smoke!!.
Anyhow we went into the room and on first sight thought that although the kitchen was very very small, this being for 3 people, it was clean and tidy with a lovely view over the pool. The double bedroom was in fact two single beds, which when pushed together came apart by just blowing on them. The fridge was very warm even at the coldest setting, yet the freezer was so cold it made everything solid! The bathroom was very large and spacious with a very large shower. However we were very soon to find that after one person had showered the warm water ran out and the other two had to take freezing cold showers. We had numerous problems with bathroom from poor maintenance of the tiles to a very strong smell of mould under the sink and a broken toilet seat.
The living room had no separate sheets for the sofa bed, not enough towels for two people let alone three. Under the kitchen sink there was yet again the very strong smell of mould caused by a leak under the kitchen sink. There was a large fan in the centre of the living room ceiling, which was very much needed due to the heat wave, however this did not work. After several trips back and forwards to reception, three days later, we were informed that this would be fixed the following day. After being out at siam water park for the day we came back to find no such luck. Again another trip to the rude and unhelpful receptionist we were informed that we should have told them before 5pm as there was nothin they could do now (strange how this was now 5:30). After a heated exchange, and a very useless maintenance man coming to our room, we finally got a portable fan. Although very noisy, and we had to fix the fan ourselves before we could use it, we got a good nights sleep at last. We understand that we are going to get wam weather but due to no air conditioning we thought that the fans would be maintained at least.
Now to the pool area, which is a complete free for all. The pool itself is very nice and is free form allowing it to look very attractive. There are very few sun beds and parasols although it is quite a large complex. After the first night we found people leave their towels on a set of sun beds with at least 2 parasols all day and all night. There are some towels which have not moved all week!! A lot of the time there are not even people on these sunbeds only towels!! I'm not sure if this makes any difference however we have only heard one other English accent all week and the apart hotel is full.
If you have small kids be careful around the pool area we have found broken glass and the floor gets that hot during the day it could melt your feet. This maybe due to the fact that they wisely painted the path areas black!!
We ventured to the bar one night to use the free wifi as this was the only place, apart from reception, it was available. We had a shock as for one pint of beer we paid 2euros 70. You may well think that pretty good, however walk outside the font doors to the complex and you pay 1euro 50 plus free wifi. Walk only a little further down to the beach and pay 1euro with free wifi!!!
We still have 2 days left in our room and still the fan is not fixed and the reception staff remain unhelpful and rude. We have seen the staff talk to a number of Germans and Russians in the hotel and are always very friendly and helpful with them. I understand very very basic German the staff bent over backwards with letting them keep their room for extra hours on the day they were leaving. We were the next at the desk only to be told, quite rudely, 10am check out. I'm not sure if its the fact we are English or no but despite our best efforts the staff remained unhelpful and rude, apart from the cleaners who always smiled and greeted you.
There is entertainment put on at the complex each night. Obviously due to the German/Russian influence I was not appealing to us.
If you like cigarette smoke and rude/unhelpful staff then this is the place for you. I do have to say that the location is fantastic. Walk out of the complex and you are just above the beach. Plenty of bars and restaurants of varying prices. The location is very good but the complex itself leaves a lot to be desired. 10 out of 10 for location near the beach, shops and numerous restaurants, 1 out of 10 at a push for the complex itself.
All in all I would not recommend this complex. A notice behind reception states that in main season it's 140euro per night!!! I wouldn't pay 1euro 40.

I have to say, after reading all the reviews upon our arrival to Lagos de Fañabe, I was less than thrilled to begin our vacation there. We arrived from Madrid around 1 am with two very tired children. I was happy to arrive and not have to ward of any cockroaches...though a dead one was found during our week long stay. I was not happy to sleep on the hardest bed I have ever slept on in my entire life. I woke up each morning with what felt like bruising from the hard bed. The condo appears to not have been updated, nor any major repairs and maintenance, since the 1980's. It was apparent that things, like countertops and leaking roofs, had been broken or a problem and a band aid solution had been applied to "get by". As timeshare owners ourselves, we would be highly disappointed to see that the money we paid for property and maintenance fees resulting in a property to look like Lagos de Fañabe. I do have to say that the location was excellent and we would return to this area in a heartbeat. The grounds of the resort were really nice. The pool areas were very relaxing and well groomed. The Internet was spotty, at best. We chose to go to Los Olivos, the connecting resort, for Internet use.

Having read reviews left on here before arriving. I was somewhat wary to the point of bringing my own cockroach traps. Not a roach in sight. I booked a one bed which is it is true pretty basic and little thought had gone into the furnishings but the best bed I have slept in for a long time. Ifyou are eexpecting the Ritz you should stay in London. Otherwise a good bet.

The apartments are conveniently placed near the beach, restaurants and shopping area. This is the main appeal, because the rest is well known:

Cockroaches. Lots of them everywhere

Dirty. The cleaning service would clean it very rarely, badly and at strange hours.

Old furniture. Very old, aged and in bad state. Even you could find mould and rusty taps.

As said by other, beware of this place and these issues.
