“Fantastic food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

We found this place while waiting for our table for the competing restaurant downstairs on a prior evening. The other restaurant, Le Gran Paella Valenciana, is decent but since it led us to El Mago we are very grateful. El Mago had the best paella we found in the Canary Islands (maybe one of the top paellas we've ever had) and great desserts. The service was excellent and flexible too. The portions were very large and we thought it was a superb value. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

“good service - giant portions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

we visited twice on our last day. portion sizes are huge and there is a lot of fried food / in batter on offer. great if you like this stuff. I dont. However, there is also a lot of other non fried options with a good range of salads and grilled fishes, meats and chicken. the plates are amazingly cheap and very tasty.

As boring as it sounds we ate here practically every night minus one evening that we ate in the restaurant downstairs, upstairs has beautiful view out to the sea, it's relaxed and spacious, the guy outside was always inviting and friendly whether you were to eat their or not,
It was a little more pricey than the restaurant downstairs but you pay for what you get. the food is all freshly cooked for your needs and the staff mKe brilliant suggestions of different sauces etc.
we had mainly pizza, pasta and the chicken with bacon, mozzarella and pesto, even the pesto sauce is freshly made.
We had a 3 1/2 year old with us and the waitress Isabelle had a box of goodies to keep Cameron occupied, from colouring books, to Lego etc, he was thrilled with the lollipop at the end too.
My parents are returning in July and my dad already knows what he will be eating!!.

Very relaxed, nice staff, beautiful setting looking out to the sea, very much enjoyed meal times, and. A drones desperate for their chicken doodahs (goujons)

Keep up the good work guys and see you soon

“Average food and bad service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2014

High TripAdvisor ratings made us curious about this place. Our experience at El Mago was far from what we expected. The restaurant is well located at the end of the promenade. However, the quality of food and the service staff are below average. We will not be coming back.

“Excellent food, service and atmosphere, full package!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014 via mobile

We arrived as a family with one child of 2 years. Our waitress, Isabella, greeted us with a hair for our son, a book, paper and pencils. However, this was not a restaurant full of children, quite the opposite. It was beautifully set with a candle and lovely lighting, we did not wait for drinks or any food for a long time. Our food was so fresh and tasted delicious. We had goats cheese with salad and garlic mushrooms to start. Then my partner had Paella which was packed with meat and fish, and I had chicken escalope, beautiful chicken breast cooked to perfection. Isabella is a credit to the restaurant and we will definitely be returning and re commending.
