I seriously regret staying at this hotel. I have just come back from a holiday in Tenerife with a group of friends (3 others) and really enjoyed my time that I spent AWAY from the hotel.
The hotel is an absolute dump, and was a car crash from start to finish.
When I arrived, the receptionist was rude, unfriendly and made me feel very uncomfortable as he kept looking down my top, which was not pleasant. He did not give any advice or wish us a nice stay.
As I walked through the corridor, I noticed it was caked in dirt, I had a feeling I had not made a good choice but I wanted to give it a chance. When we got to the room, the door was slightly cracked (you could see into the room if you looked through it) and had several insects on it.
The room we were staying in was very cramped and tacky, and smelt of vomit. The bathroom was very unclean looking, the toilet was rancid and the shower had hair in it, which made us shudder. Several tiles were broken revealing rotten wood beneath.
The bedroom was grim, the pillow had some blood on it, and I found chewing gum and bogeys on the quilt which was absolutely vile. I asked for the quilt to be cleaned numerous times and we were always provided with another equally putrid quilt.
The wooden floor was not well sanded, I got a number of splinters from simply walking on it. The balcony was not too bad, but smelt of smoke and all of the chairs were either partially or completely broken. All of the beds were extremely uncomfortable with very very thin mattresses, I felt like the princess and the pea.
As for the food, it was disgusting. I found a hair in several of my meals, and the meat was rarely cooked. I was ill one day from the poor food. There was really not much to choose from either. The TV and phone in the room was a joke, neither worked. The phone was 'fixed' by a staff member, but it never really worked. And the TV required money to actually tune in, and considering this was an all-inclusive holiday, I was fuming!
The entertainment was bad taste, cheap disco's and bingo were the only things that it had to offer, and even these weren't done well.
The pool is more like a pond, and I avoided going in it at all, as I was worried I would catch some kind of infection. The water was an off green colour, and I don't think many people wanted to swim in it.
At the end of the day, I enjoyed the holiday as I spent virtually no time at the hotel, and the time I spent at the hotel was in an empty, dark room with little more than a magazine staring at me from the plastic table in front of me. Thank goodness I went with friends!
My 1st and most definitely last stay at the Caledonia Park, and good riddance! Never ever stay at this hotel, there are even cockroaches in the room!
