We booked this hotel and were a bit concerned with some of the reviews and thought what have we done? All I can say is we are glad we did not listen and we had a great time. Staff are all hard working, friendly. Rooms cleaned daily, they are spacious. We had 2 children aged 6 and 9, my youngest not able to swim. The lifeguard there daily allowed me to relax. At the end of the week, my son was swimming. Food has a lot of variety, best is breakfast, with cooked food, continental, cereals, fresh fruit, breads. A couple of times a bit random as brussel sprouts were served, but maybe some nationalities like that. Lunch and dinner has lots of salads, fish. Pork joint was cooked and probably the most delicious ever tasted by my husband, and he eats a lot in Michelin starred restaurants for work!! Veal casserole very yummy. My kids tried rabbit too. Paella when cooked by the pool was very tasty. If you like sweet things, there are lots of lovely little cakes. Lunch and dinner sometimes a bit hit and miss but it's personal taste, and they are cooking for different nationalities. Ritchie the entertainer does a brilliant job: aqua aerobics in morning, volley ball in pool, table tennis, french bowls, tennis, football, basketball in day. The kids were thoroughly entertained. Kids club is 11am until 1pm, and wasn't busy as its a shame as the kids didn't want to go in as no other kids there. Maybe kids club in afternoon when it's gets hot so parents can keep them out of sun but trying to kids to do that when they have a tempting pool, may not happen. The kids were in both pools, heated and not heated, obviously one is not as warm as the other but don't see that a reason to moan. Snacks are all covered and the pigeons do try and swoop down but that will happen when food is about. BBQ outside one day which was nice, maybe a bit overdone but with BBQ you have to make sure meat is cooked properly. Drinks plentiful, they have strongbow cider but you have to pay for that if you want it. Cocktails served too. I see some people have moaned about plastic glasses but can't understand that especially when kids are dropping drinks all over the place. I know I would have safety first than a glass! Evening entertainment kids disco, bingo 'give it to me Ritchie' (you'll understand what I mean when you get there), a raffle, and live show one was snakes, eagles and parrots. The kids loved it! I would have liked a disco for all, maybe an hour, so adults could have a boogie. Pics a bit pricey but thought this is the kids first holiday abroad. One complaint is the lack of pillows, and if management could give another, that would be great. If you want value for money, a relaxing break, your children happy and fantastic weather, this is the hotel for you. Well done Playa Real, and thank you.
