We have just returned from a week at Playa Real Resort, which we believe gave us a great value for money holiday. This was our first visit to Tenerife, and we were really impressed with the island, and with Costa Adeje too.
As so many people have mentioned, the hotel is situated further up the hill compared to other hotels, but to me this was a benefit. We like to go for walks so the 5-10 minutes to local shops, bars and restaurants really wasn't a problem (although reading some reviews thats too much for some !!). The views from the junior suites across to the sea were lovely, both day and night.
Some reviewers have complained about the lack of food, well we were never hungry, always found the choices varied from day to day, and found the buffets were always being refreshed. The waiting staff were very efficent, although I do agree that at first the paper tablecloths are weird, but it does enable them to clear and clean the tables quickly for new diners, making it more hygenic. The outside snack area once suffered from an attack by the pigeons, but as the food was covered it was not a problem. The bar staff were also friendly and quick, and some of the drinks were very strong!!!!
We too stayed in a junior suite, as a family of four the sofa's were made up for our 8 and 10 year old daughters which were perfect for them, but for adults probably not. The views were great, a little drying line on the balcony plus table and chairs, big spacious bathroom, hall and seperate bedroom. Our only two criticisms were that the floor could have done we being swept daily (I did it a couple of times, the maid a couple of times), and we found the beds a little uncomfortable by the morning, but nothing that detracted from the holiday.
Outside there are two main sun terraces, one between the two blocks - this was always quiet so a great spot to be on your own, and one facing southwest so a sun trap from 9.30 through to sunset. One of the pools here is heated, not a hot heat but quite comfortable. Our daughters loved it, and spent over 50% of their time in these! Plenty of sunbeds and parasols, and the hotel has a policy of NO RESERVING OF SUNBEDS - fantastic - no early morning race!!!
The entertainment was varied, some acts better than others. During the day Ritchie does a great job, he really is a credit to his job and the hotel, and we had a good laugh with him. He organises a number of different activities each day, although it was so wierdly quiet on his day off (Sunday). He also works the evenings too, as host for the shows, and doing raffles, bingo and even as an act too! We would definately suggest watching the magician, very good and to be so close to his act, great illusions, although we felt sorry for him that only about 30 guests came to watch.
So, all in all, a great holiday. A week of sun, in the Easter holidays, with temperatures in the shade between 23c-28c, all for £145 each for all inclusive - how can you complain about that - although some will i'm sure!!!
Will we be back, oh yes!
