“Okay, but should be so much more...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2011

Location is good but Tarifa is such a small place that its difficult to go wrong picking any hostal based on location.

Hostal is supposed be different to a Hostel when it comes to spanish accom. but I would say this is definately more like a hostel. The rooms are decent but there is no aircon. The Tarifa wind sufficed for me but my bro said he found it warm in the rooms.

All amenities such as laundry ect are super expensive and computers dont work so well. The staff arent as unfriendly as the reviews suggested but they arent hospitable either. They dont know much English and assist you as little as possible.

I am not sure if the price is standard for tarifa but I dont think it was worth the amount paid. Had I known how hard it would be to lay on the sandy beach of tarfa and how little else there was to do, I would have gone for a busier or more entertaining southern spanish town and paid less for a hostel there.

Stayed at Facundo last weekend, it has recently had a bit of an overhaul, very very basic, but clean. I paid 18 euros for a room with a shared bathroom, plenty of shower stalls, hot water, clean, but the noise! Only reccomend this place if you are a heavy sleeper or have indistrial strength ear plugs. It does go relatively quiet after midnight. Cant complain at 18 euros though. The lady on reception during the day certainly didnt go to charm school, but the guy on the night shift is much nicer. A smile and a greeting doesnt cost anything. Also they charge per room a 20 euro refundable deposit on your key.

Don't waste your money and precious holidays time and don't stay in this pension! It looks like a refugee camp, I've seen cockroaches size of my thumb running in the hall (thanks god not in my room) and my 'clean' bedding had someone's black hair all over it, had to sleep with my clothes on! There is no sound insulation whatsoever, so I couldn't fall asleep at night and then was woken up in early morning by the sound of doors slamming everywhere in the building (as it was quite a windy day and the draft wind occured). I went to have a shower but it appeared that there is no hot water and as I am definitely not an iron woman, I change my mind about having a shower that day.

In short - avoid this place at all costs!

Paid an amazing 90 euros for this badly built noisy youth hostel. Common areas are clean and well presented but you can hear your neighbour taking a pee in the night and there are no fans or ac or wifi. Wish I had read this first!

We were lucky to get a room here because it was a holiday weekend. The room was no frills and it was OK. But I had a horrible night of sleep due to the complete lack of sound insulation, and could hear our upstairs neighbors every noisy move.

After throwing us out of the room of some other hostel in Tarifa, we got a nice clean double room with toilet and shower without any reservations. A kind guy at the reception, good kitchen and internet access was all we needed. Will sure visit it again when we are back in Tarifa ;)

This hotel/pension was very centrally located and easy to reach either from the ferry or bus station. It cost me €30 walk in for single occupancy of a twin room with en-suite bathroom. It was a small room with a TV that didn’t work but there was plenty of hot water and the room was clean. There was a window that looked out over a small central courtyard (and the windows of other rooms), and as a result my room was quiet. Most of the rooms have shared bathrooms, although those bathrooms all looked clean. There is also 20 minutes free internet available, drinks machines and a kitchen. I thought it was quite good value for a basic room.
