5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

This is the first time i have stayed in a 2 star hotel and this one couldn't have been better.Everything was great, the room was very clean, bedding changed every day, breakfast was excellent and the staff couldn't have been better,[ very friendly] Small roof pool and sun bathing area and right in the middle of Nerja close to all the restaurants ,bars and the sea.Ideal holiday hotel.

Before booking anything, I always consult Trip Advisor reviews. I have never before felt so compelled to write a review as I do for this hotel. We have traveled extensive in Europe these past two years and this hotel by far is the best 2 star anywhere (hard to believe it's only a 2 star). We generally stay in 3-5 star hotels but decided to try this place because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews. We could not have been happier. While it is a simple hotel in its amenities (including the breakfast), it is one of the cleanest. The bathrooms, bedrooms and closets were spotless; Even the dresser drawers where clean and dust free, as were the small courtyards which were filled with well cared for live plants. The hotel is in an ideal location in the heart of the square but yet off a small side street where you are not disturbed by the noise. This place is a gem!

Room Tip: The balcony of our room was halfway between the courtyard and the view of the water. Lovely and not...

My husband and I stayed in April. The hotel was immaculately clean and our room was very comfortable. The roof top pool area provided an excellent "sun-trap".

The breakfast was self service but provided everything we needed

The location was excellent, extremely close to the square.

The hotel represented excellent value for money and we'll be back!

This hotel could hardly be better situated, right in the centre of town and really near the Balcon de Europe and beaches. The staff were friendly, the rooms clean but the breakfast quite basic. This is a 2 star hotel and it is a very good one but that is its level. There is an attractive roof terrace but it really needs a bar in the evening. However it is very near lots of restaurants. We had an enjoyable stay there

My friend and I stayed at puerta del mar for 5 nights from 13th to 18th of may. We booked a taxi from the airport through the hotel at a reduced rate and got an excellent service. We also requested a room overlooking the square as previous tripadvisor reviews had suggested this was the quietest room location and this was granted. The hotel location was perfect, right on the square. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels every day. The continental breakfast was lovely and the staff really efficient. The rooftop terrace area has nice quiet small secluded sections. It would have been good if pool was a bit bigger and heated. Overall we will definitely be returning to this hotel.

I only have good words for this lovely hotel, the staff are so friendly and they help with every question we have.My husband and I stayed at a room overlooking the square at the back and I can say we slept all night with no noise at all, I have seen in older reviews other guests complained about noise at early hours made by the dustmen...well that has been removed and there are no dustbins at all. We asked Javier at the desk, and he mentioned they had been removed two weeks ago, so no more noise from them !!!!
Breakfast was perfect ,loads of bars and restaurants nearby to choose from too.
One of the cleanest hotels I have stayed at.
I have recommended it to all my family, most surely be back.
Congratulations to Javier and all the staff.

I've had better for the same price. It's really a 2 star accomodation (don't expect more, although some reviewers think so). Breakfast is a bit poor, prepacked croissants, bad coffee and the cold cuts are not cooled. Location was good, city centre but still close to the beaches.
