“A Wonderful Dining Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

We know the chef Steve from previous restaurants and when we discovered he was opening Bakus we cold hardly wait to enjoy his wonderful food again. We were not disappointed - this guy knows how to mix/blend flavours like nobody else! It is so good we went 3 times in the first 2 weeks after he opened. We tried different dishes each time and could not fault any of them.
The wine list caters for all tastes and budgets with the very good Coto de Hayes as the house wine. We believe the house wine says a lot about a restaurant.
Prices for each course have been carefully thought out bearing in mind there is a recession going on, but the quality of the food has not been reduced.
The staff are all known to us from other top restaurants and are warm and welcoming. The decor is understated but oozes quality. The outside area will be fantastic in summer as they are open for lunch and dinner.
Our advice is go there for a wonderful dining experience and you will just want to keep on returning. Do, however book in advance for night times.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Having heard this restaurant was opened with the combined experiences of previous staff from calabaza and restaurant 34, I just had to try and it was superb.
We were a party of 4 and all were v happy withering starters, mains and desserts. The fillet steak was like butter, the best I have had in a long time! Nice atmosphere and decor. Happy to recommend it to anyone.

“Excellent food at good prices u”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

Bakus has only recently opened so we had not had the pleasure last year when we were in Nerja. We decided to make a reservation, even though it was a Tuesday evening in February. Good job we did as it was full. It appeared everyone had booked for 8.00 as they seemed to be busy at the same time. We had booked for 8.30 and initially waited 20 mins for the menu, which was not the best of starts. It was also a bit disappointing that some of the courses or accompaniments were not availble. We both ended up having the same meal (which is unusual for us). We both had the haddock terrine and beef medallions. The starter was okay, but the main was excellent (even though they had run out of the gratinated potato). We both had the Bakewell Tart to finish which was to die for.
Decided to go for lunch today as heard the gourmet pizzas were worth a try. I have to say the pizzas were the best we have had for a long time. I had the Pepperoni and my wife had the Pear and Blue Cheese with rocket. This is an excellent restaurant which provides great food at good prices. At first I was unsure, but by the end agreed this will be one of the best restaraunts in Nerja if it keeps up the good standard. Will be back at Easter.

“Excellent all round quality food and service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Bakus has only been open for just over a week or so. We had heard that Steve who had an excellent reputation as the chef/owner at Calabaza over a year ago had recently opened this new restaurant, so we were keen to go to check it out. We had lunch here a few days ago. It was very good. In addition to the regular menu, there were highly affordable lunchtime specials. One of us had mussels €7 and the other had a pepperoni gournet pizza €6.50. So we had a most enjoyable lunch very reasonably priced on the outside terrace with views of the Mediterranean.

We have just had dinner there tonight. The restaurant was full with reservations - not bad for a midweek (Tuesday) night and having been opened for such a short while!

Everything was faultless. The service was impeccable. The ambience and decor were excellent. Above all the food was very, very good. One had goats cheese in filo pastry with a superbly-dressed salad to start €5.80. For mains one chose pork escalopes served with bacon, brie and other accompaniments €13.40. The other chose medallions of fillet steak €15.60. Both were beautifully presented and a delight to the eye. The steak was cooked exactly as asked for "medium well". The accompanying fresh vegetables were cooked perfectly al dente.

They seem to have struck a winning formula of very affordable lunchtime dining and quality evening dining but also at very reasonable prices for the quality.
