Great hotel & location on sea front. We had rooms with sea view and the sea was wild - nothing like going to sleep to the sound of the ocean - brilliant!

Food disappointing for 4*. Lots of canned and frozen food, meat quality not great. All meals buffet style and a bit like Piccadilly circus in the restaurant at times.

Dinner first course - basically salad - might get a few tinned sardines and half a hard boiled egg to go with it if you're lucky. Nothing like as good as a Riu palace stayed at previously (but then that is a 5* I think)

We stayed at the Riu Monica Hotel in May and cannot fault the hotel. The staff cannot do enough for you. The food is good and the hotel is spotless. As mentioned by other visitors, the graffiti and shabbiness of some of the seafront walkways is disappointing but would not hesitate to stay at this hotel if visiting Nerja again.

Had a very relaxing stay here, room was good, thought the food was excellent for buffet style as I prefer a la carte really could not fault it. Entertainment was better than most hotels especially the lionel richie bloke. Staff were very helpful and professional. There is a great leather bag shop in the lobby cheaper than in town.

Really liked Nerja - no yobs, would go again and prob stay at the Monica

When we read some of the reviews of this hotel on Trip Advisor, we were a bit concerned that we would not enjoy our stay. However, we were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel was well equipped and modern. We were greeted with a drink on arrival and before our first evening meal. The food was excellent and my wife who is quite fussy about what she eats had no problem choosing very palatable food each evening for dinner. The breakfasts were also good with a wide range of choice so I am not sure how the complaints about the food arose. The swimming pools were also very clean and not very full, despite the warm water. We would certainly go back to this hotel and to the town of Nerja.
