We stayed at this hotel for two nights in October 2005 at the start of a touring holiday of Andalucia. We first saw the hotel in the book “Special Places to Stay – Spain” by Alistair Sawday and then were encouraged by the reviews on this site. We were not disappointed(by this or the other hotels selected from this book).
Located up a quiet side street, 5-10 minutes walk from the main square, and handy for a wide selection of restaurants. There is limited on-street parking in the immediate vicinity, but difficult to gauge as we arrived in the middle of the October Fiesta. However, parking was available for 12 Euros + tax, a night in the hotel’s underground garage – staff very helpful in guiding you into this via a lift from street level.
Situated next to the Parador, which did not look as appealing, the hotel’s grounds are spectacular with views of the beach, coastline and surrounding mountains. There is a small pool with ample sun loungers. The nearest beach can be accessed via steps which zigzag down the cliff face. On every turn there are secluded seating areas to enjoy the surrounding vegetation and views, perfect for breaking up the climb back up from the beach. We believe the hotel sauna is also built into the cliffs, but we did not take the opportunity to try this.
We stayed in Room 108 which was very grand with a king sized bed, leather sofas and a spiral staircase to its private (but overlooked) roof terrace complete with sun loungers, table and chairs. Again views from here were stunning. The marble bathroom was huge with its spectacular, large spa bath, best enjoyed with a bottle of sparkling wine from the very reasonably priced minibar. Fluffy bathrobes and a wide range of toiletries added to the ambience.
The information sheet in the room seemed to indicate that the continental breakfast, included in our room rate, was limited to certain items but this did not prove to be the case and you were free to select as much as you wanted from a reasonable range of items on the breakfast buffet. This was enjoyed on the terrace by the pool – weather permitting!
An ideal setting for couples keen to enjoy a romantic break.
