“beautiful place to relax and enjoy the sea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. We had room 129, which had a very large terrace and views over the hotel grounds and the ocean. The terrace had a couple of lawn chairs and a patio table set. A great place to relax and read book or enjoy a glass of wine.

The interior of the room was nicely appointed and large for European standards. It also included a full bath (not just a stand up shower) which was nice.

The grounds are very nicely landscaped with plenty of lawn chairs scattered throughout. They have a lovely pool, but it was freezing cold so I only saw a couple of daring souls get in to it over our 3 day stay.

Nice public areas throughout the hotel. The lounge/bar was comfortable and the terrace off the restaurant was a very nice place to enjoy a drink in the sunshine. Breakfast was included with our package. Good buffet with fruits, pastries, bacon, eggs, cheeses etc.

The location was excellent. Just take the private hotel elevator and you step right out onto Burrianna Beach with lots of great little restaurants/drinking holes along the nice stretch of sand. You can also walk to the Balcony of Europe in about 10 minutes from the hotel. Lots of restaurants and more smaller beaches down there too. We arrived by bus and decided to walk with suit cases in tow to the hotel. It took about 10-15 minutes. Would probably take a taxi if we did it again....just because the sidewalks are rather narrow and it is on a hill down to the hotel and uphill on the way back to the bus station.

All in all, I would say this place is a solid 4 star choice in Nerja

Very pleased with this hotel. excellent view and location . had a room with a balcony overlooking the pool. Nice gardens Building 1970's but location and view made up for this . Breakfast on the terrace a real treat and you can help yourself to what ever you want, If you want thee yogurts or loads of bread rolls its all fine . the waiters just bring the tea or coffee . If you pay for these part of a deal its well worth it to sit outside . They serve breakfast until 11am There is also a place to have snacks all day and room service is free. The meal in the e ending is about £50 per head with wine but if you are looking for a belly blow out it will not be for you. I like fresh veg and fish And enjoyed all five meals I had. The desserts were mainly Spanish and very nice too. The menu is i available in English but it may puzzle you a bit. Strawberries, ice cream and black pepper was crushed strawberries, orange juice , sugar and liqueur and pepper. this was all prepared at our table. There is a lift down the cliff to the beach and a few beach restaurants . We went to Granada to the Alhambra and it took less than an hour to get there . A very good break but might be jam packed in the months of July and August so not so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the sea over the pool. Do not book a room on the ground floor opening out on to t...

My wife and I spent three nghts at the Parador de Nerja and enjoyed our stay. The guests are mostly older couples, but there were a few younger parents with children and even infants. The hotel was built in the late 1960's/early 1970's, but is well maintained. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was extensive and the views from the restaurant were great. Easy access to the beach by their private elevator, but don't stay out too late! (They close the elevator some time before 10 pm and it can be a bit of a walk up the hill.)

The bathrooms are gorgeous, as other reviewers have reported.

Only one negative. Sounds like doors slamming (at 3 am) or heels on tile floors in the room above ours echoed through our room were unpleasant. The hotel room doors could use door closers to close the doors more quietly.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor with a garden view. Higher floors may have less noise.

We find it somewhat difficult to rate the Parador de Nerja. Unlike many other paradors there is nothing historic here – Nerja a pretty non-descript building. We would say our room, the lobby and restaurant were average – certainly nothing wrong but at the same time nothing special … i.e. no interesting character. Provided you get a room with a view of the sea (and you should) there are nice sized balconies. The one down side to the balcony was the cheap plastic furniture. We expected more at a parador … but the views are outstanding. Of course the better views are from the higher floors.

But what the Parador de Nerja is all about is its location, complete with beautiful, immaculately kept grounds, on a bluff overlooking the Mediterranean. These are certainly beautiful … expansive and tranquil. Although we did not have dinner at the parador the extensive buffet breakfast was pretty standard for paradores – which we continue to consider excellent. The opportunity to enjoy breakfast on the terrace overlooking the grounds, the coastline and the sea is special.

So the building, common areas and rooms - average; the outdoor space, terrace, grounds and views - excellent; on average => very good.

A 15-minute stroll through narrow streets and alleys takes you to the town of Nerja, a quaint whitewashed Spanish seaside town where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Oliva. We were very pleased with our choice of the parador for our visit to this area of Andalucia.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the views.

We have just returned from Parador de Nerja. The staff is extremely helpful.
The beds are very comfortable. The food is great. I have nothing bad to say about this property.
Wonderful views, a nice balcony to sit on.

We're just back from the Parador, and have to say it exceeded our expectations. The staff our friendly and helpful without fawning over you. We upgraded to a suite, which was very comfortable, with a bathroom that was stunning. The views from the balcony are amazing.
The breakfast was extensive, fresh and delicious.
The grounds are tranquil, and yet the busy Burriana beach, with a huge range of restaurants is only 2 minutes away via the private hotel lift.
There is no doubt we will come back to this hotel. My advice is to go when the sun is shining. It will make your holiday.
I cannot fault this hotel.

Having recommended this hotel to our friends, even though we had not stayed as previous visits to Nerja have been self catering, they then recommended to us. We were not disappointed. Breakfast on the terrace with fantastic views out to sea - fabulous. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful. I wanted to test out my Spanish, they were very patient and helpful. We went when the Santa Semana and the processions were amazing. We would definately stay again, probably next year as soon as possible. Sea views are worth paying extra for. We stayed on the top floor (third) and the views over Burriana Beach are just wonderful. The location is ideal just 5-10 minutes walk to central Nerja and then there is theprivate lift access to the beach.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must. I emailed them directly to request top floor.
