Swap "traditional" for "completely worn out" never seen anything like it, I thought these sort of places were a thing of the past, even the tour rep was reluctant to visit ( her words not mine )
Booked 10 nights half board and left after 1 night and booked into another hotel, nobody interested in any level of a refund, if this was in the uk I think trades description people would tear them to pieces, 3 star my eye, not even 1 star in my opinion and we are not overly particular.
Rooms nothing like the Web photo"s, food like slop and seemed re-heated to look at (didn't eat any) the first room offered was the size of a broom cupboard and the alternative not much better. The bathroom was a health hazard, shower head filthy, bits of rust here and there, the curtains were Nerja donkeys years old and full of holes. Anyone interested I have photo"s.

Don"t go , honestly!

Room Tip: Go to another hotel

Dear customer, thank you for your review. I regret that your stay in our hotel was not to your liking. Most of our clients enjoy our hotel and many return more than once every year. Clearly that did not happen with you. For us, our work is not a joke, and the photos are of our rooms, the food is made every day and everything is cleaned daily. But I suppose you already know. Kind regards.

We stayed for a week at the end of october. Staff realy nice and friendly. The rooms are very small and need updating. A lot of people return here year after year but sadly was not for us. The location is great for the beach and 10 min walk to nerja town. We did try the food a couple of times, breakfast was better than the evening meals so decided to eat out on the night time. For the price we payed for the holiday it was worth the stay at the flamenca. its just a shame about the rooms. the walls are paper thin and some of the sounds we were hearing was not for the faint hearted lol Got told better and bigger rooms in the annexe but you are away from the main part of the hotel. if you like a original spanish hotel then this is the one for you.

Have just returned from a 10 day stay at this hotel. On arrival, although the receptionist was efficient there were no pleasantries exchanged, not even a smile! We were given a room on the third floor over reception. We had to immediately ask that the bathroom was cleaned as it had hair all over the bath (although the bath was more like a large sink!) After 3 nights of hardly any sleep due to traffic noise, binmen at 3 in the morning and deliveries to the shop and the hotel we were rather tired. On the fourth day there was also a very strong smell of drains in the bathroom. We asked to move and were eventually given another room on the 4th floor which was much better. The balconies are really too small but at least you got one. We managed to get hold of the hotel's hairdryers once in the 10 days - not impressed especially when the reception staff just shrugged their shoulders when asked when we were likely to get one! The rooms were cleaned every day so no complaints there but I feel the whole hotel needs a complete makeover - it is so out of date. We found the food very boring. Breakfast was ok but the evening meals were predictable! Pork every night we were there and on one night the only vegetable available was sprouts! Entertainment was pretty poor - Jake the Peg in 2013???? We took advantage of the bowling available twice a week and met some really pleasant people. We really do not understand how people can return here year after year and in some cases more than 10 years in a row. As for the Thomson rep - Katie. Our welcome meeting was 11.45 the morning after arrival. When we got downstairs there was a notice saying it had been changed to the following day at 11.15. The following day we arrived - Katie didn't! The notice was still the same the day after. We never saw Katie until the 5th day but by then did not need her advice very disappointed. We really liked Nerja but not the Flamenca.

We decided to give this hotel a try having read a lot of reviews - some positive, some negative, but after all, we don't all like the same do we? It IS tired and the carpets are filthy and worn but it is also the end of the season and they were decorating whilst we were there. Our room (209) was cleaned thoroughly every day, the bathroom though cramped was serviceable and spotless. The small balcony looked out at the mountains at the back of the hotel - beautiful - but oh so noisy!!! Guests returning late at night stumbling drunkenly along the road, also passers by. Trolleys pushed by staff along the garden path (table linen?) about 23.00. Automatic garden watering system at about 02.00 and what sounded like a large cistern filling up. Refuse lorry at 03.00 and the large bins being wheeled around. Breakfast was OK - plenty of it but rather repetitive and we found it rather sad to be served tinned fruit in Spain! Dinner - well what can I say other than that we ate out on three evenings. We walked around the buffet and walked out. Chicken legs on too many occasions, veg tired, starters repetitive and uninteresting but - you get what you pay for. Would I go again? Probably not. Location is great, the walk down to the beach nowhere near as bad as suggested. The walk into town is easy too. With some money, imagination and TLC this could be a great hotel but now it's only average. That said there were a lot of repeat guests so it must be pleasing some people. Oh and there are some very dark rooms - either in corners or with large trees.

Our group of 8 recently booked a week at this hotel because the pictures looked lovely and reviews were mostly positive. We were so very disappointed!! No parking available within five minutes walk. Carpets were filthy in the hall ways, our room was dark and supposedly a "room with a terrace" but the terrace was two feet wide with a big tree blocking all light and that was to hide the road where you could hear the cars zooming by. No, hair dryer, iron, etc. Breakfast buffet was busy and like a high school cafeteria and food was not good. We left after two nights (supposed to stay a week) and found a beautiful hotel for just a little more money. Thankfully our trip wasn't completely ruined. Other guests there seemed to enjoy and were repeat visitors. It was inexpensive and you get exactly what you pay for. Definitely not for us!!! Just beware it is very basic!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: If you must stay here (and I don't recommend it), get a room upstairs. Ask when you book becaus...

Dear guest, thank you very much for your review. As you said, we are a basic hotel, that is the reason that we are a 3 stars and we have a very good relation ship value for money. As you said also, we have many repeat customers that come every year because they really like our hotel. Sorry I was not successful with you, but I appreciate your critic. Best Regards

We stayed in this hotel in the middle of September to attend a wedding in Nerja.I was a bit apprehensive after reading some bad reviews, but we really enjoyed our time there. Yes the bedrooms could do with a makeover but were kept clean and towels changed every day.The food was good with plenty of variety and we always had service with a smile. Perhaps its a case of treat others as you want to be treated yourselves! We didnt spend much time by the pool as we prefer the beach, and there are some lovely ones in the area, clean and not too crowded and as we live in Wales we didnt find the hill too bad!
The Villa Flamenca is a typical Spanish hotel with a 3 star rating so why do people expect it to be 5 star? We prefer a less stuffy more relaxed atmosphere and no we dont live in a cave in the Welsh hills but we did go to school and can master punctuation and spelling dexter 1642!
Katie the Thomsons (i,ve spelt it right) rep was lovely and very helpful. Thanks to everyone for a lovely holiday, the wedding was great too,and dont be put off by negative comments. Enjoy beautiful Nerja and the Villa Flamenca.
