We travelled to Nerja for a friends wedding and we knew we weren't going to spend too much time in the hotel.

First Impressions
The lobby was very nice, pretty with ample place to sit. The service from reception was good and check in was quick. The room was basic, our balcony overlooked the main road at the front of the property. There are no tea/coffee making facilities and no tv. No air conditioning, just an overhead ceiling fan.

Cleanliness
The room seemed initaly clean but when i went for a bath i discovered a massive clump of hair wrapped round the plug and various other hairs in the bath which made me feel very ill!! The rest of the room was ok and the maids seemed to do a good job of the bedrrom area.

Food
We had only booked bed and breakfast. We ate breakfast on the first day and I wasn't impressed. There were sausage, bacon beansetc avilable but apart from that the selection was basic and the quality not great. We ate breakfast at a cafe on Burriana Beach called Dancers every day.

Entertainment
We experienced the entertainment round the pool one evening. This was a lounge singer and it was ok but I feel it's was more geared to an older guest (40 upwards). Most of the guests were this age and the entertainment stopped quite early.

The pool area looked nice but I did not go in the pool.

For the divers among you, the Buceo Costa Nerja on Burriana beach are great (website is www.nerjadiving.com).

Nerja itself is very pretty, the caves are well worth a visit and I wish we'd had time to visit Gibraltar.

All in all this hotel is ok if you are planning on being out and about and not spending much time here. You get what you pay for basically and it served it's purpose but I wouldn't hurry to go back to Villa Flamence, though I would return to Nerja itself.

A nice little hotel about 10 mins walk from the town centre. It's a standard 3 star hotel so food is fine, not brilliant but better than expected.

Very friendly staff who are always willing to help. The rooms are quite small but that didn't matter to us.

It's a nice loaction if you don't mind a bit of a walk to the centre of town. The pool area is nice but not very big so gets quite crowded. Overall we were happy with our stay though and the hotel was better than we expected.

Strictly for the over-45s, Villa Flamenca is a pretty hotel but that's about it. Our room was nice but very small and the tiny balcony too cramped to enjoy.

We stayed B&B and only tried breakfast once - it was awful. The hotel is cheap so maybe I shouldn't expect real juice and proper coffee, but what the Flamenca had on offer was disgusting.

The reception and cleaning staff were polite and helpful, but the bar staff were rude and surly. They enjoyed ordering customers around in the bar which is not exactly "relaxing" in my opinion. If there'd been waiter service around the pool I would've avoided going in the bar altogether. The pool area, by the way, could do with some TLC and the manky sunbeds need throwing out and replacing.

The walk down to the beach is steep and slippy. The beach is nice but the sunbeds are laid out far too closely for my liking and you can't move them if you want an umbrella as they are fixed into the sand.

But on a positive note, there are some great restaurants in Nerja and a few nice bars to drink at. And the caves are worth a visit - well, if it rains, anyway!

Hotel needs a facelift. It also needs an entertainment area away from the rooms,Live entertainment starting at 11pm should not be in an area facing the majority of rooms.
The food is only average, while the town has many excellent places to get a good meal(not always cheap)

However the staff are excellent people, willing to put themselves out for the guests.

“Good value and relaxing”

Villa Flamenca Hotel

Nerja- good location. Plenty to do. Book your hotel directly - some UK holiday companies do not pass on requests to the carrier or the hotel. I shan't book through Travel Republic again.
Good restaurants Hotel Sevillano and the Gallery. Treat yourself to a meal at the restaurant below the Balcon de Europa. Good cafeteria Anahi and Cafe Uno -Brits serving ploughmans and club sandwiches. Beware the beach restaurant with BBQ, food ok but the house wine was undrinkable. We stayed at the Villa Flamenca, very relaxing, ample breakfast, efficient.
Can be booked direct - half board .
Beware care hire booked UK side. they use Aurigacrown, you pay for a full tank and are expected to return it empty. Not easy and no refund for unused fuel. Also insurance doesn't cover tyres and windscree, that is another 20 euros if you care to take it.
