“A Great Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

Popped in for lunch via the back door next to the underground parking ramp in Nerja. Very pleasantly suprised. The food, the presentation and ambiance were all top notch. I will be back in May and will definitely pop in again.

“Nouvelle Cuisine at its Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

I was a little apprehensive about going to Oliva looking at the photos and noting some of the comments re the food. Was this going to be more style over substance? I was pleased to say I was not disappointed.
The food is excellent both in presentation and taste and the service is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant itself is contemporary in decor and intimate enough without being overcrowded.
Bread is brought to you to start, with an interesting presentation of butter and olives in a small plant pot and a dash of a marmalade and salsa Ximenez on a slate platter. An interesting touch. I started with the langostinos en kataiffi which was recommended by our waitress. This was excellent and had a rich taste and texture. My wife had the fried goat's cheese but felt it was maybe not as runny as she would have liked being a little more 'solid' than expected for deep fried cheese.
For main I had the duck which again was excellent. Cooked perfectly, slightly pink and served sliced with a Ximenez sauce. My wife had the steak, which she said was perfectly cooked and very tasty.
For sweet we had the cheesecake with a dessert wine.
The wine we had with the meal was a rioja which was decanted and this certainly helped the flavour and body. The waiter was very helpful describing the wine we chose.
This is not cheap dining but it is well worth the money for the quality of food, presentation and excellent waiting staff.

“Worth a trip to Nerja just to eat here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

Dined at Oliva in March after a few nights of disappointing dinners at the Hotel Balcon! We dined here last year and this year it was even better than I remembered. The cost was 100 euros for a bottle of wine, three courses, coffee and all the lovely extras. Wonderful staff, great service. Would come back to Nerja self catering or b & b so we can come back and eat here every night!

Excelent food. Many a Michelin star restaurant would like to serve this outstanding quality.
Value for money! A real must. Enjoy! Willem Polet.

“Very special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

One of those special places that caters to ones needs. The attention to detail is what one expects in this price range (not that expensive though) however the food lived up to expectations so the whole experience was not just image and presentation. The food was very well cooked and delivered with just the right amount of time between courses for our table of six. We especially liked that the house wine was reasonably priced. One thing they may take on board is to slightly reduce the price of starters...most passing trade looks at the price of starters and boom does not move on....this restaurants starters were almost as much as the main course. Best offer...go for main course, house wine and pudding cannot be faulted
